Oh! Gonzalo! Rejection Hurts!!

Gonzalo, this hurts! Say it’s not so!
(The rejected one is always last to know. We have to read it on someone else’s website.)
It appears we have been rejected. Rejected! For Argentina. Argentina! That slut in a tight blue-and-white sweater! (Not even a MANLY bleu! A [...]

Higuain Just Can’t Make Up His Mind

The last time I spent a weekend waiting for an eighteen-year-old guy to make up his mind, I think it was, like, y’know, prom season or something. So it’s been a little while.
River Plate (Argentina) whiz kid Gonzalo Higuain isn’t going to let us know till Monday whether or [...]

Team Roster for France-Greece, 11/15

So does anybody know the record for the maximum number of players pulled from one team? Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) has to be close with ten. I guess Domenech figures, why reinvent the wheel when Gérard Houillier & Co. have already done so much of his work for him. (Who can doubt [...]

AAAH! Zizou! Say It Isn’t So!

I know I will hate myself in the morning for posting this, but if I don’t somebody else will.
What has Zidane Been Up to Since World Cup?
Sigh. You would think the man would know that there’s no such thing as a private life when you’re really, really, really famous. [...]

Au Revoir to Trezeguet?

The France-Greece lineup is out. (I’ll post the full list later today after I’ve had a few minutes to look it over.) The big news: David Trezeguet’s out, eighteen-year-old Karim Benzema of Lyon is in. I suppose we can’t be too terribly surprised. (Disappointed, yes. Surprised, no.) [...]

Face of the Future? Gonzalo Higuain

French-born Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain has been named as one of 50 players selected for the France-Greece friendly on the 15th. According to Eurosport, as of 11/6 Higuain hadn’t yet decided whether to accept the call-up.
The eighteen-year-old striker (currently playing for the Argentinian team River Plate and subject of a whole bunch of transfer [...]

Zidane After Football

I’m guessing this is one of those articles where the translation didn’t quite travel the entire distance. From AP:
“Zidane to open health food factory in Bangladesh”
Hmm. That doesn’t sound like Zidane.
Read a little further, and you’ll see that “health food factory” isn’t quite referring to the same thing as here in the states. [...]

France-Argentina Friendly February 7, 2007

I knew if I procrastinated long enough I would be able to find an English language article to link to.
France is schedule to play Argentina in a friendly on February 7, 2007. This is the first time the two teams have met since March, 1986. So mark your calendar!!

Ouch! That’s Gotta Hurt! A Clip from September, France-Italy

Since nobody was blogging on this page back in September and it’s a slow news week for Les Bleus as we await the team selection announcement next Thursday, I thought I’d post this video clip from the most recent France-Italy game.

This one hurts me to watch. And I just love the way [...]
