Well, That Was Unpleasant

Let me preface this post by stating that I am a Les Bleus supporter from the bottom of my heart. I love my team even when they play the most boring football on the planet. So please understand how much it hurts me to say after watching yesterday’s match against Uruguay, I could only ask [...]

2010 World Cup Group A: France vs Uruguay Preview

I love the camaraderie in this picture!
It’s only game 1 of the World Cup, but I feel like its D-Day.  And, I honestly don’t think that’s an exaggeration- because how we perform in this initial game will most likely determine the rest of France’s World Cup adventure.  If we fail, I fear we will not [...]

Uruguay Names Lineup vs France

Uruguay’s coach has already picked his starting XI to start against France on Friday. The only two surprises in the lineup appear to be Mauricio Victorino (defense) and midfielder Egidio Arevalo (midfield) who replace Andres Sotti (defense) and Walter Gargano (midfield). When revealing his lineup, Tabarez indicated the changes were to made to [...]

2010 World Cup Friendly: Tunisia vs. France Preview

REMINDER: Liveblog begins 10 min before match is due to start!
Today the Bleus take on Tunisia in their second friendly before the World Cup.  Their first game against Costa Rica was largely a success last week, and the team will be hoping to establish a positive streak of games going into the tournament this summer. [...]

Gallas’s crash a metaphor for France’s upcoming performances?

Is William Gallas’s crash an ominous sign?
I’ve been keeping positive, but this training exercise has shaken my confidence a bit. Do I stand by my prediction that France will win the World Cup, in light of the footage of this training fiasco, one might ask. Yes, but even less comfortably.
Allez, les Bleus.

Lassana out, Diaby in

Well, folks. This is a thunderbolt to many predicted 11s. Icegaze recently predicted Lassana would feature in the first 11, saying:
Henry
Malouda Ribéry Anelka
Toulalan Lass
Evra Abidal Gallas Sagna
Lloris
That’s the team RD is going to line-up. Watch and see. B)
So re-think required there, Icegaze, and I think Abou Diaby is your guy.
Look where he’s gone [...]

Domenech on if Gallas is healthy: “Apparently, its going well. He eating asparagus, avocados, corn, a little meat.”

So Domenech is giving us and the media a little hint of that bizarre sense of humor that made him famous infamous after losing Euro 2008.  But, unlike in 2008, I’m sympathetic to Domenech’s sass to the media.
First, the media never misses an opportunity to drag Domenech over the coals.  Sometimes its cruel- but most [...]

Its Official: Blanc is Domenech’s Successor!

Bordeaux confirmed that Blanc is indeed leaving Bordeaux to coach Les Bleus – pending a final agreement on compensation for the club’s release of Blanc!  For more details, see the post I wrote the World Cup Blog front page.

Will the Blanc era be confirmed on Sunday?

Blanc – channeling his best Gourcuff with mullet look
As one our commenters, Benj, mentioned already- Didier Deschamps, the current coach of Olympique de Marseille and former France captain, gave a very interesting interview to L’Equipe practically outing Laurant Blanc as the next coach of Les Bleus.
This secret has been kept as badly as the [...]
