France 0, Belgium 0 – Everything’s in place for France, but players need 5% improvement
The Stade-de-France crowd booed at full time, but this team is miles ahead of the Domenech sides from around 2007 through 2010 that were so poor to watch.
I’m a big fan of the current team, but to be winners, we need a little bit more quality from these players.
Did anyone catch the England-Spain friendly? [...]
Enjoyable Friendly at Stade de France: France 1, USA 0
That friendly, for me, felt like the third in a series after the friendlies versus Brazil (also a 1-0 victory) and England (a 2-1 victory). There have been other friendlies mixed in, but these three were played at a high competitive level, and France showed surprising promise in each of them.
For this match, Blanc [...]
Fascinating match, 0-0 at halftime
I can talk about USA later, but for France Menez has been really good. Gameiro has not had a touch. Mathieu has been heavily involved. He’s been ok. A packed house, they got to the stadium early, brilliant support, and then they booed the team off the pitch at the half. [...]
With Nasri out injured, Blanc calls up a ready-made replacement from Lyon
Nasri has pulled out the squad injured (Malouda, Remy, and Cabaye are also injury doubts), but we all know that Lyon have an attacking midfielder who can do the job just as well, or better, on his day: our very own Yoann Gourcuff. But Gourcuff is left to watch from home as his club [...]
Giroud gets first call up – joins growing list of pretty boys in France’s current squad
Take a look for yourselves, courtesy of the mugshots on FFF.fr. And that’s without Gourcuff.
I’ll update later, but here’s the squad to face the USA and Belgium:
Goalkeepers
Cedric Carrasso (Girondins Bordeaux)
Hugo Lloris (Olympique Lyon)
Steve Mandanda (Olympique Marseille)
Defenders
Eric Abidal (Barcelona)
Matthieu Debuchy (Lille)
Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)
Adil Rami (Valencia)
Anthony Reveillere (Lyon)
Jeremy Mathieu (Valencia)
Mamadou Sakho (Paris St Germain)
Midfielders
Yohan [...]
Scouting Report: Olympique de Marseille
I am far from the best person to write a scouting report on Olympique de Marseille, but no one else is volunteering. (Add comments if you have any thoughts.)

Preview: Euro 2012 Draw
France could theoretically be pitted in a group with Spain, Germany, and Portugal, according to AFP.
Blanc insisted that he will not sign a new contract if the team performs poorly at the finals, and he almost predicts that we will perform poorly, so much was he trying to play down expectations.
I’m not having any of [...]
Top-of-the-team-sheet form: Samir Nasri
Cometh the hour, cometh the man, non?
When France needed a big player to fill the Benzema void, Samir Nasri delivered Euro 2012.
Well done, lad.
Not exactly a new Zidane, but equally effective in that final qualifier, salvaging a point.
He had me at “qualification secured.”
I heart Samir.
France Advance with 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina
The goal came from Bosnia and Herzegovina fatigue – they fouled Nasri in the box. It’s like the guy knew it was an obvious foul, but just thought they were outside the box.
Nasri converted the spot kick. 1-1. France are through.
Remy had a clear chance to open the scoring and prodded it to their [...]
