Coupet’s Number One!
Bleus coach Raymond Domenech doesn’t want to keep us in suspense any longer about who the #1 goalkeeper will be for next week’s France-Argentina friendly.
Despite the fact that goalkeeper coach Bruno Martini was checking out Barthez last weekend, Raymond is going with Grégory Coupet.
Whew! Okay, I can breathe now.
But what’s even more interesting? Domenech also announced that there will be a certain number of new players in this week’s selection, because he wants to go into Euro 2008 with “some young players.”
As opposed to an average age for starters of 30, as in the France-Greece game? Okay, sounds good. But now my question is: How are we defining young?
Or more importantly for our guys over, say twenty-nine (who include Trézeguet, Henry, Makélélé, Thuram, Sagnol, and yes, Coupet) how is he defining old?
