Domenech’s Italy Game Ban Upheld
It’s official. Raymond Domenech is out for Saturday’s game against Italy. UEFA upheld the ban “for bringing the game into disrepute.” (And why does that phrase always make me smile and imagine somebody bringing hookers onto the field or something?)
On the plus side, UEFA did get rid of the $8000 fine, so Raymond won’t have that to contend with.
What will Saturday look like? Well, Raymond is officially banned from the touchline and the locker room, but he can communicate with his assistants by phone from the stands.
Which seems to kind of defeat the purpose of a ban, but maybe that’s just me.
Question on viewing the game: Where are you watching this? It doesn’t seem to be showing on Setanta, and even JumpTV is coming up empty. (Although they are showing the France-Scotland game next Wednesday. ) This is too important a game to miss, so I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Of course, I’ll be watching from someplace in Paris, (yes, woohoo, leaving Thursday and will be staying through the Scotland match) but I’m still trying to find it for you pour US-bound folks.

I’m watching it on GolTV as well. Funny, I thought Setanta was going to broadcast it, that’s the info I have on my weekly soccertv.com mailing.
BTW, Laurie, Lassana Diarra (formerly of Chelsea and just bought by Wenger an hour before the closing of the transfer window last Friday) has said this in an interview in Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper ahead of Saturday’s Euro 08 qualifier:
http://www.sportingo.com/football/west_ham_insulted_by_striker/1001,4744
“New Arsenal signing Lassana Diarra has attacked the entire Italian footballing nation as he prepares to face them for France this week, which is quite clever if you think about it. The new arrival to Arsene’s ranks said ‘Everyone knows the reputation the Italians have is of cheats and provokers. The important thing is not to fall into their traps. I am a black man and in Italy we often get insulted, not just by the fans, but also by the players. Having said that, the situation does seem to be improving.’” (Gazzetta dello Sport).

so 100 percent the game is live on goal tv please someone confirm

Well, they’ve been advertising the game on their website. So I would assume that it’s being broadcast there. Although my Tivo only show “Futbol” with no descriptions all day Saturday.

That’s weird. I have TV5 Monde and the game isn’t showing up. I have digital cable though. If anyone knows anything tell me because I’d much rather watch the game in French on TV5 than in Spanish on GolTV.
