Somewhere in the middle of all that, I also heard another piece of good news, I think from Domenech:
Willy Sagnol has started trainig with Bayern Munich players and is doing OK. He is expected to see real game action within 2 to 4 weeks. I think that can only help bringing a little more calm and solidity in defense.

I guess in my mind Ribéry was the constant — the one thing that will definitely stay the same in the upcoming games.

But I did agree with subbing him out for Ben Arfa, both to save Franck and to give Hatem the senior team experience.

No mention of Ribéry? IIRC he had three assists playing essentially from the playmaker position. C’est pas mal.

One down, two to go. The next match, against Lithouanie, will be the hard part, I think.

I haven’t seen the game yet, just highlights, but I loved how the players were having fun out there. You could tell Henry was thrilled to be setting up for Benzema and Ben Arfa, and he was happy that Rothen scored on his return to the NT after such a long absence.

For the first time in a long time, France were a happy team. I didn’t realize how much I missed those days.
