France Injury Update: Toulalan, Vieira, Ribery

October 24th, 2007 | By: Laurie | 3 Comments »

With about 3 1/2 weeks to go before that all-important game with Ukraine, I don’t like seeing injuries reported for our players. Unfortunately it looks like there are a few.

First, Jérémy Toulalan missed Lyon’s Champions League game with Stuttgart today with a knee injury. He’s expected to be our two weeks, so let’s cross our fingers. Especially since another central midfielder also picked up an injury: according to l’Equipe, Patrick Vieira is the victim of «une élongation au jumeau médial de la jambe droite.» Anybody speak French medical-ese? All I can get from that is “right leg.” No word on when he will be playing again.

And in especially bad news, Franck Ribéry has picked up some kind of thigh injury. Also no word that I can see on when he’ll be playing again. Let’s hope it’s something minor!!

I did some sleuthing, it sounds like a calf pull. He shouldn’t be out much longer if that is the case.

“pull of the twin medial in the right leg” it reads word for word. Yes, you are right obviously.
How about Nasri? Sagnol? Ouch.
OK, no time to freak out, but I’m feeling a little uneasy!

Geez, these things never come singly, do they?
By the way, when is Coupet due back in the lineup again? Early December?
