Bordeaux decided not to renew his contract at the end of last season. He never officially declared he was retiring though.

I guess I didn’t mention that Mavuba did well when he came back to France, did I? (It was in my brain but never made it through my fingers.) Thanks for pointing that out.

Laurie, as much as a disaster than Villarreal was for Mavuba (mainly as he didn’t really play at all), the form he had in the second half of the season when he was back in Ligue 1 at Lille was brilliant.

Agreed that Lassana should try and not move every half-season, though, especially as if you know anything about the early stages of his career, he initially tried out at almost every club in France, as the case against him was he was too small, so he definitely has a chip on his shoulder, one would think.
