France’s 55 player “pre-list”
I found this in a blog that says it’s a “pre-list” that came form l’Equipe. I never have any luck finding specific stories in l’Equipe, so we’ll take this person’s word for it. It’s apparently the 55-player list from which the final 29 will be picked on Sunday.
And I look at some of these names and think, “Uh. Yeah. WHO?!?”
But yes, Sunday’s list will apparently be 29. And will eventually be whittled down to the final 23-player Euro list.
What do you think?
Keepers: Coupet (Lyon), Frey (Fiorentina), Landreau (PSG), Mandanda (OM), Ramé (Bordeaux), Y. Pelé (Le Mans).
Defenders: Abidal (FC Barcelone), Armand (PSG), Boumsong (Lyon), Z. Camara (PSG), Chimbonda (Tottenham), Clerc (Lyon), Clichy (Arsenal), Delpierre (Stuttgart), Escudé (FC Séville), Evra (Manchester United), Gallas (Arsenal), Givet (Olympic Marseille), Mexès (AS Roma), Monsoreau (AS Monaco), A. Rami (Lille), Réveillère (Lyon), Sagna (Arsenal), Sagnol (Bayern Munich), Squillaci (Lyon), Thuram (FC Barcelone).
Midfielders: Bodmer (Lyon), Diaby (Arsenal), A. Diarra (Bordeaux), L. Diarra (Portsmouth), E. Didot (Rennes), Faubert (West Ham), Flamini (Arsenal), Y. Gourcuff (AC Milan), Makelele (Chelsea), Malouda (Chelsea), Mavuba (Lille), Nasri (Olympic Marseille), Ribéry (Bayern Munich), Rothen (PSG), Toulalan (Lyon), Valbuena (Olympic Marseille), Vieira (Inter Milan).

I’ll read it too yesterday on lequipe.fr : http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2008/20080515_230527_une-pre-liste-de-53-joueurs_Dev.html
I think nothing special about this list. The former larger list comes tomorrow anyway. But I note that Lloris is not present in it (the little guy is near to sign with the AC Milano). He’s probably disappointed.

Inara said that Lloris has a broken hand. Otherwise I think he’d make a 55 player list, probably ahead of Ramé and Pelé. My guess is he’s fifth in the pecking order right now, behind Coupet, Landreau, Frey and Mandanda.

You’re right, i completely forgot that. I need to sleep.

No worries, Yaz. At least you originally knew about the injury. I somehow missed it till Inara mentioned it.
