Headbutt-Viewing 4th Official to Ref the Ukraine Game

Looks like Les Bleus will reunite with an old friend for Saturday’s game with Ukraine.

Spain’s Luis Medina Cantalejo, the official who spotted Zinedine Zidane’s head-butt in last year’s World Cup final, will referee France’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Ukraine on Sunday in Paris.

Ah! The fourth official! I remember him!

He was the one called a liar by pretty much the entire nation of France for saying he saw the headbutt without television help! And he was the one who has been eternally immortalized in the Coup de Boule (Heatbutt) song as “L’arbitre l’a vu à la télé”! (Translation: The ref saw it on TV.)

But hey. I’m sure there are no hard feelings.
