Highlights from France Morocco

Three thoughts after watching this video:

1) This really was a brilliant, high-energy game that would have been lovely to watch if I were a neutral. Too bad I’m not a neutral.

2) This defensive lineup might work with Coupet. It doesn’t work with Landreau. Where, oh where is Philippe Mexès?!?

3) The Morocco goals were the result of France defensive screwups. (Not that Morocco didn’t play well and deserve them. But both could have been prevented by good defensive play.) The France goals were brilliant team play soccer.

On an unrelated note, if you read the main page at The Offside (and if you don’t, well, why the hell not?) you’ve read that the brilliant Bob, creator of last summer’s World Cup Blog, is leaving to pursue other opportunities. It speaks to his skills that it’s taking four of us to replace him.

But that’s what’s happening, so starting on Monday I’ll be writing this blog, and my Galaxy blog, and trying to hold up my end of the main page. (And yes, I do actually have a life outside of blogging. Thanks for asking.)

So I am planning to take the rest of the weekend off and do things that don’t relate to The Beautiful Game. Of course I say that, but when Scotland blows Italy out of the water 10-0 , what with it being the 17th and all, I’ll probably be unable to stay away from my computer. But the plan is that I will see you on Monday. Have a great weekend! And forza Italia.

Oh. Sorry again. It just slipped out.
