Italy Wins, so France Goes Through!!!

Okay, so yes, the game was marred by lousy officiating. But that doesn’t change the result. Scotland 1-2 Italy, which means that France goes through regardless of how Wednesday’s games come out!!

Yes, I feel a little bad for the scrappy Scots, but…

Allez les Bleus!!!!

Italy vs. Australia all over again. I love how France hates Italy, then when it means qualifying they cheer for them. Spineless cowards. Scotland was robbed, and they beat you twice. Things have to change with FIFA cause right now they look disgracveful

Scotland was robbed of what?

Italy had a goal called offside which wasn’t. Scotland’s offside goal was allowed to go through.

The officiating was lousy, both teams suffered. But it’s not the Ref’s fault that Scotland youlnd’t manage to hit the back of the net a second time.

It is amazing how bias the uncontrolled remarks were by the two british commentators during this match.

1) The Officiating was Horrible in this match.
2) Italy had a perfectly fine goal called back, while scotland had an offside goal counted for. So in reality this game would have bee 2-0 Italy had you also discounted the phantom foul.

I would hope you all remember that Scotland did NEED a Win to advance. Not a tie. So losing 2-1, doesnt matter. Had it been a 1-1 draw, Scotland would be out the same as they are now.

It was a valiant effort by them, they came up short, Forza Italia, We’ll be seeing France in the Euro Championships!

Ok sorry, Skillz But I still stand by my comment. I watched the game and I cannot comprehend why the ref and the linesman gave a free kick to Italy. I think want to keep the game at that side of the park not knowing Italy would score.?
Now I know how Australia felt when they played Italy in the World Cup. Why is there not an independent body verifying the refs for these games?
Would you still put on a LOTTO ticket then you did not know who/when the draw was taken ??

Yeah… clearly Scotland was robbed, and Italy paid the refs… They also paid for their goal to be discounted, and then for Scotland to be gifted a phantom goal.. That makes total sense…

Shut up PQSIK. Scotland lost the game, deal with it. There are no conspiracies.

I cannot believe how immature some people are being. Do some of these people actually believe what they’re posting. I sincerely hope that it’s just sour grapes because if it isn’t it’s just plain childish and pathetic. The game was exiciting and full of action at both sides of the park. The game was pretty evenly matched, posession was 50 – 50 with Italy having the slight advantage with shots on goal. Italy were more clinical in front of goal and had some bad luck with a poor offside call. I’m not too sure if Scotland’s goal was offside or not, it appeared to be OK to me. I knew the Scots would throw everything they had at Italy and could have had a better result but in the end Italy pulled off a well diserved victory. The Scottish faithful have nothing to complain about since the linesman made a questionable call that kept them in the game and the Scots had their chances but could finish. Well Italy and France go through to Euro 2008 – Was there ever any doubt?!?

The Italians came out of the blocks, the early goal subdued the fantastic support and it took the scots too long to get into the game, if scotland had scored first………well we did`nt so move on…bring on the world cup draw.

Football is so corrupt I cant stand it anymore. Why do the refs always cheat for Italy. When France loses in Ukraine they should wave Italian flags at the end of the match to celebrate the Italians carrying the french into euro 2008.

[...] left to play. You can read about the ensuing fallout over Italy-Scotland from the perspective of French, Italian, and Scottish fans. Or you can read about the conspiracy [...]

Skillz, you are such a sore loser, Italia won and fairly outplayed Scotland though they got a good foal disallowed. France will win that Ukraine game and will prove you wrong, France 25 points, Scotland 24… Looks like France did better fair and square, that’s the game, be a gentleman. PS: France doesn’t hate Italia, only tabloids and childish commentators on the net like to entertain a little war of words…

Yeah, I guess Australia were a bunch of sore losers too.
