Lineups for Faroes, Plus: Leave Comments and Streams Here

LES ÉQUIPES PROBABLES

FRANCE: Mandanda – Sagna, Gallas, Abidal, Evra – Govou, L. Diarra, Toulalan, Henry (cap.) – Anelka, Gignac
ILES FÉROÉ: Mikkelsen – Danielsen, Gregersen, Eliasen, Davidsen – A. Olsen, S. Olsen, Benjaminsen, Loekin – Jakobsen – Hansen

I was willing to bet my house yesterday that we’d be playing two DMs, and guess what? I would have won.

Sigh. Domenech will never change, will he?

(Pretty sure that’s a rhetorical question.)

4-4-2, with Abidal in central defense, Govou starting on the right, and Gignac and Anelka up front.

Come on, guys. Goals. Lots of goals. Even with this lineup, you can do it.

In the US, the game is going shown on FSC, but not on TV5. If you have a working stream or thoughts on the game, leave them in the comments.

Allez les bleus!

Laurie: if you’re correct about the lineup, I am excited to see Henry, Gignac, and Anelka combination. Less excited about Govou. Why is Malouda not on there? I think he can combine very successfully with Anelka, as he showed at Chelsea.

I can’t remember the last time I watched a France game with English commentary. This guy’s pronunciation of “Gignac” is going to drive me nuts.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Also, all the graphics are misspelling “Faroe”

  • http://psg.theoffside.com/ Thomas
  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Thanks, Thomas. Who’s the broadcaster?

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Stupid post! That one was close. I’d love to see Toulalan get a goal.

  • http://psg.theoffside.com/ Thomas

    OHH toulalan

  • fares

bye bye france!!! serbia lead 1-0 against romania. great news!!!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Gignac is not looking all that sharp today. Which saddens me. C’mon, AP!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

ACK! This announcer gives “Gignac” a hard G but “Gourcuff” a soft one. Fire him!!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    C’mon, Romania!

  • benjamin

So…one penalty not called, and one post.
    Putain de merde

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

The announcer says, “France really shouldn’t require a penalty like that.”

Uh…since when does that determine whether or not it’s a penalty?

  • benjamin

comme dit Arsene… Deux poteaux a zero!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Post again! ARRGGHH!!!

  • Lekarlokin

TV5 Asia did not telecast it ????why….We need goal… Romania Allready down by 1 goal

    From Bangladesh

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Is Arsene commentating?

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

We are driving scores of balls into the box, and nobody’s getting on the end of them. SO frustrating.

  • benjamin

    yeppp Arsene is.
and the other commentator called him mean for making fun of the goalkeeper because he doesnt leave his goal line on crosses or corners

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Even Abidal and Gallas in the final third. This will be comical once we score.

  • benjamin

and an altercation between Domenech and a Faroe player haha

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Benjamin, where are you watching?

  • benjamin
  • benjamin

is it sad that im cheering because gignac just scored…against the faroe islands?

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Benjamin, I’m sitting here screaming too. Yes, it is somewhat sad. But I’ll take it.

  • jeanpierre

    Who scored? I fell asleep

  • jeanpierre

ok now its toulalans turn to score

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Also, the link you gave is two minutes ahead of the FSC broadcast, so I got to see the goal twice. It’s almost like they scored two. ;-)

  • benjamin

    WOW GIGNAC WHAT A GOAL!!!!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Woot! Gignac again!! I take back what I said about you, A-P!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Jeanpierre, they were both Gignac. One opportunistic, one gorgeous hard work.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

FSC is spelling “Faroe” as “Feroa.” This is just embarrassing.

  • fares

and it is certainly over for france as serbia lead 2-0 ohhhh ohhhh ohhh …
see you in the barrage (you can score as many goales as you like tonight; ca sera en vain )

  • http://psg.theoffside.com/ Thomas

    theres something called the playoffs

  • fares

i don’t care ; the most important thing is that france will be there.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

FSC is now four minutes behind the French feed. And: GALLAS!!!!!!!

  • jeanpierre

  • fares

  • http://netherlands fares

  • http://psg.theoffside.com/ Thomas

Fares: Again, what don’t you understand about the playoffs? And is that Luyindula?

  • fares

no no way ; serbia are above all competition. bravo serbia!!!!

  • fares

  • fares

  • fares

pfff great great performance there will not be a miracle mister domenech!!!

  • benjamin

    HAHAHA referee substitution

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

And Nico finally gets one. Garbage goal, but a goal all the same.

And I’ve never seen a ref sub before. That was hysterical.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

And last but not least, Benzema puts in his “Can I get out of the doghouse yet?” goal.

  • Ryan

Gignac is a very nifty player. Really fun to watch him today.

  • Jean-François

Yes, Gignac has really impressed me since he joined the team. Benzema scored some points in my book today as well. Serbia qualified over France, but as bad as the play-offs sound, they really are not. I still hope France tries instead of being pissy against Austria on Wednesday. Do you guys think France will try?

  • Kxevin

No reason for them to try all that hard against Austria. Playoffs are assured, and a weaker side will be in the offing, so things are looking good.

Unfortunately, I can’t see our beloved Bleus going far with Dumbenech as coach. They are a collection of individual talent in search of a unifying agent. Look at what Capello has done for England, by way of example.

When Zidane was in the side, there was an on-pitch coach, so it didn’t really matter how big a nit Ray-Ray was. Now….

If you have a front line of Henry, Anelka and Benzema/Gignac to call upon, with the likes of Toulalan and Diarra buttressing the midfield, it takes real talent to be mediocre with that group.

I also didn’t like Diarra laughing after picking up that yellow for a silly challenge, and what the hell was Gallas caterwauling about? You even saw Sagna telling him to calm the hell down, with a 5-0 lead and a minute to go.

Yes, I am thrilled with the win. I only wish they’d done it against Serbia. Or Romania. Or any of the other chances they had to do the business and avoid the uncertainly of playoffs.

  • http://thebeantownfrog.blogspot.com/ gfc

Oh I like “Dumbenech” definitely going to start calling him that!! France did the necessary, which no one should have doubted, but it will be interesting to see who they draw.
