Lineups for Faroes, Plus: Leave Comments and Streams Here

LES ÉQUIPES PROBABLES

FRANCE: Mandanda – Sagna, Gallas, Abidal, Evra – Govou, L. Diarra, Toulalan, Henry (cap.) – Anelka, Gignac
ILES FÉROÉ: Mikkelsen – Danielsen, Gregersen, Eliasen, Davidsen – A. Olsen, S. Olsen, Benjaminsen, Loekin – Jakobsen – Hansen

I was willing to bet my house yesterday that we’d be playing two DMs, and guess what? I would have won.

Sigh. Domenech will never change, will he?

(Pretty sure that’s a rhetorical question.)

4-4-2, with Abidal in central defense, Govou starting on the right, and Gignac and Anelka up front.

Come on, guys. Goals. Lots of goals. Even with this lineup, you can do it.

In the US, the game is going shown on FSC, but not on TV5. If you have a working stream or thoughts on the game, leave them in the comments.

Allez les bleus!

Jeanpierre, they were both Gignac. One opportunistic, one gorgeous hard work.

FSC is spelling “Faroe” as “Feroa.” This is just embarrassing.

And Nico finally gets one. Garbage goal, but a goal all the same.

And I’ve never seen a ref sub before. That was hysterical.

And last but not least, Benzema puts in his “Can I get out of the doghouse yet?” goal.

Gignac is a very nifty player. Really fun to watch him today.

Yes, Gignac has really impressed me since he joined the team. Benzema scored some points in my book today as well. Serbia qualified over France, but as bad as the play-offs sound, they really are not. I still hope France tries instead of being pissy against Austria on Wednesday. Do you guys think France will try?

No reason for them to try all that hard against Austria. Playoffs are assured, and a weaker side will be in the offing, so things are looking good.

Unfortunately, I can’t see our beloved Bleus going far with Dumbenech as coach. They are a collection of individual talent in search of a unifying agent. Look at what Capello has done for England, by way of example.

When Zidane was in the side, there was an on-pitch coach, so it didn’t really matter how big a nit Ray-Ray was. Now….

If you have a front line of Henry, Anelka and Benzema/Gignac to call upon, with the likes of Toulalan and Diarra buttressing the midfield, it takes real talent to be mediocre with that group.

I also didn’t like Diarra laughing after picking up that yellow for a silly challenge, and what the hell was Gallas caterwauling about? You even saw Sagna telling him to calm the hell down, with a 5-0 lead and a minute to go.

Yes, I am thrilled with the win. I only wish they’d done it against Serbia. Or Romania. Or any of the other chances they had to do the business and avoid the uncertainly of playoffs.

Oh I like “Dumbenech” definitely going to start calling him that!! France did the necessary, which no one should have doubted, but it will be interesting to see who they draw.
