More News on France’s Barça Boys
Just as we (or…well…I) start to get discouraged about club form, our boys in Barcelona not only start, they dominate in a 6-0 win over Valencia.
Okay, granted, this is hapless and probably relegation-bound Valencia. And when we’re thinking 6-0, we have to think Faroe Islands. It sounds like the game was similar.
But let’s take a look at how Goal.com rated our French boys:
Thuram: 7 – Solid at the back and untested as he acted as the last line of defence against a Valencia side who rarely made it to their opponent’s area.
Abidal: 7 – Not often involved in the game, but went about his job efficiently.
Henry: 9 – Looked rejuvenated to an extent and, like Eto’o, had the freedom of the whole front line and made the most of it. Made smart passes, took his first goal well and his second exceptionally. Really looked the part this evening, but can he perform with such enthusiasm and dynamism every week?
So not only did they all start, they apparently looked good doing it. And Henry got TWO goals!
Gives us a little something to grasp as we wait for the Big Games.
