Wait is Toulalan not playing? I’m not sure if that was a hypothetical or not. Also I was wondering if and when we could discuss who we would pick for the whole 23 man squad?

the defense shouldn’t be the real question
we all know the back line there’ll be abidal-thuram-gallas-sagnol
questions about who’ll bench aren’t really major
ok evra or clichy are better than abidal but we all know he’ll play
clerc or sagna … two good players, doesn’t really matter for bench
the real question is how domenech will do to play without toulalan ?
cause everyone see a line up vieira-maké .. but toulalan is maybe the best french player this year. (three great player for 2 places .. ok, not so bad)
but, the main problem is the animation.
ribery may be ok, but so irregular
malouda is .. just bad, poor, or unuseful (chose one)
and what bench here ??
nasri is a great player but too far of his last years level
and that’s all .. valbuena is not ready for international competition, and not reagular too, ben arfa is just a dumb, talented but stupid, can’t carry a single thing to a collectif
so what if ribery is injuried or just out of form ?

Clerc has looked good playing for France, and I like the player. I voted for Sagna, though, who is a great player with a great personality.

Eric, I think that’s exactly how it will play out. I do think we’ll see Willy Sagnol and Francois Clerc for Euro 2008. And possibly Clerc and Sagna for WC 2010.

I was kind surprised to see Lassana Diarra at RB in the Italy and Scotland games for a number of reasons. It worked out pretty well in Italy — he was a pitbull and schooled the Italians multiiple times — but not so well vs. Scotland. I think it kind of soured Domenech on taking chances at the rightback position and I’m guessing he’ll stick with Clerc.

I think Sagna is a good right back for arsenal but when it comes to playing for France Clerc has done a better job and I think Domenech will choose him since he has called him up to play more. Sagna has only one cap for France during the qualifying. Clerc to me has worked too hard for him to be overlooked. I think Sagna has a better chance finding a place for the 2010 squad than for the Euro squad.

Finally, i’m not sure about Sagna. It can be Bakari too. I had a friend who was named Bakary, but it doesn’t matter at all. It’s like me, my name is Yassine, but a lot of people wrote it Yacine, or Yassin.

Inara, it’s Bakary in that case.

For me, Sagnol deserve his first place. It’s an experienced player, with good attitude on the field. This is also an act of confidence -french players needs that (remember Vieira on pre-2006 world cup).

He got a lot of problems with the actual Bayern’s coach, who forced him to play on the right middlefield.

My second choice is Sagna, but he need absolutely to become the first rightback immediately after the Euro.

(Excuse my bad english, i’ll make some efforts in the future, I promise)
