Scotland Fans at the France-Scotland Game
This is a photo I took of a couple of Scottish fans at the France-Scotland game in Paris. You can’t tell from the photo, but they’re all wearing kilts.
I wrote up an article about what it was like to be around all of this Scottish passion. I’m not posting it here because it’s more about Scotland than about France, but if you’d like to read about it and see a few more photos, stop by the blog Pitch Invasion.

Hi Laurie,
Some news for you from the Arsenal.com website. Apparently, Domenech has called up 5 of Arsenal’s players for the Lithuania game. As far as I know, at least 3 of these players (maybe 4) have never been called up by Domenech before for the NT. I guess he’s been impressed with Arsenal’s performance this season, and 3 of these particular players have been absolutely critical to the team’s success. The players are:
William Gallas, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Mathieu Flamini, Abou Diaby.
Clichy, Sagna and Flamini have been incredible in their defensive duties. Clichy’s pace is phenomenal, he acts like a winger. Sagna is Wenger’s best summer transfer and has been a revelation for our back four. He’s undroppable now. Flamini’s a lion in midfield who fought for his place (he was going to leave in the summer because he wasn’t playing enuf) and has now made himself undroppable — forcing Wenger to bench the excellent Gilberto.
These are young players with amazing pace and hunger. I would really love to see Domenech rely more on players like this — incl. Nasri, Benzema, Diarra, etc. — rather than Vieira, Makelele and Thuram.
Strangely, Arsenal.com does not list Diarra as one of the players Domenech has called up.

Scottish people can be so cool.
My brother was vacationing in Scotland in June 98 and he decided to go to a pub to see the game on the 12th (yes, THAT game, the Final). After a while, the pub customers started noticing that my brother wasn’t really a neutral spectator, and asked him if he was French. And so, as the game went, some drinks were sent his way, endlessly, and the whole pub started rooting for France. At the end of the game, the owner opened Champagne for all. The celebration went far into the night. Nice people I’d say!
What do you think of Raymond’s new list of 23? Sorry I only found it in French. No Vieira nor Trezeguet…

this is unrelated to the post, but I just wanted to mention to you Laurie that the whole Hope Solo getting benched in favor of Briana Scury reminded me alot of the Barthez vs. Coupet debate before the 2006 world cup. Think about it, there are alot of similarities.
