Serbia-France: Leave Streams and Comments Here

C’mon, Romania!!! Oh, and France, too.

If we can get a win today at Serbia, our fate is still in our own hands. Our guys can do that. Right?

According to Raymond when asked about the starting XI, « Tout est possible », but l’Equipe is expecting Domenech to go for continuity. Here’s L’Equipe’s probable team:

Lloris – Sagna, Gallas, Abidal, Evra – Toulalan, L. Diarra – Anelka, Gourcuff, Henry – Gignac.

So Abidal in for Escudé. At centerback. Because that worked out so well against Italy in Euros. (I love Abidal, but he’s such a wild card.) In theory Escudé is out for injury, not for the own goal. And l’Equipe is guessing that we broke Ribéry by playing him not fully fit on Saturday, so he probably won’t play. (Okay, I’m reading between the lines, but that’s what I take away from it.) Won’t Bayern Munich be happy?

That said, until the own goal sucked the wind out of France’s sails on Saturday, I REALLY liked the lineup. They had incredible energy and played well together. And I’m also happy that Domenech didn’t pull Gignac just because he had one less-than-great game. I think with some seasoning he could be the key to ending our goal drought.

Game at 21h00. For those who get TV5Monde, they’ll be showing this game also. (Shows how important this one is. How often will TV5Monde show a mid-week game?) If you have a working stream, please leave the link in the comments.

C’mon guys. You can do this one. Allez les bleus!

I don’t get Domenech taking Henry off. Henry was stellar all game today and a part of almost all of our best chances.

Also: I’m now sitting here watching French cartoons. This is what my life has become.

Actually it did hurt our chances. Still, Domenech should not be there.

Of course it did, but Henry said we were going to Serbia to win, nothing less. Meaning regardless of what happens in the match, we are going to win. We didn’t.

Quick comment on Toulalan: I’ve watched many of his games for France and it’s frustrating to see him win the ball only to give it right back to the opposing team or send his pass out of bounds. He seems to be playing a similar role for France and for Lyon, so it seems like he should be comfortable in his role. Maybe he’s being asked to play more of an offensive role for France?
In any case, he is limited in what he can do, particularly his range of passing. If Domenech is asking him to play more offensively, he will fail. I would love to see more technical skill in our midfield. I think that would make a huge difference.

I may be wrong, but I think Micheal was referring to PLAYING like France, not putting more whites on the team.

Right now, our team is not French quality football.

I thought so as well that even with 10 men they were able to do it. They out played Serbia but as usual the finishing is just not there aside from the usual magic of Titi. I’m not sure why Domenech waited so long to bring on Ribery, but I thought for sure it would be for either Gourcoff or Toulalan and not Henry. It was quite clear from that point on, he was playing for a draw, even though I felt that with a man down Les Bleus had far more scoring opportunities. When is Anelka from Chelsea would show up for the Anelka on Les Bleus? I mean Sagna from Arsenal shows up for the Sagna on Les Bleus !!!

Why do you guys even give him the pleasure of this argument?
Just put him on perma ignore !!!
Anyone who’s that obsessive in hating a team because of their origin
doesn’t deserve a discussion.

I have to say I’m really disappointed. Not because of the match, but because of this comment by Jeff:

“This is what happens when you have to play in Belgrade. Cheating much like ethnic cleansing is common.”

I’m just wondering what is this supposed to mean. You guys always talk about how racism and racial insults are extremely bad and should be forbidden, which is all fine by me. But it’s all okay when you talk about nations like that, right?

That very same Jeff later said this to Michel-Olivier:

“Franconize the team? What does that mean? Are you some sort of racist scum getting on here?”

I just want to say I’m really insulted by this hypocrisy. If it isn’t okay to judge people by color of their skin (which definitely isn’t, don’t get me wrong), why is it okay to judge people and whole nations because of some historical events? Are you historian, Jeff? Have you ever been to Belgrade? What exactly do you know about the wars you are referring to? And even if you do know what happened, what connection does it have with a football game?

I’m really, really disappointed by this. You may all think it isn’t a big deal, but people from Serbia are actually tired of being labelled all the time as savages and murderers by people who know NOTHING about all of those sad events they are referring to. If you consider just how soft a racist comment can be for it to we banned and widely condemned, then I just call on you apply the same criteria for comments like this. If you don’t, then it’s all really a matter of hypocrisy to me.

NO to racism and NO to nationalistic insults.

I’m a hard core Serb who love his country and respect others. What happend in Belgrade tonight is what any person who’s seen more than 2 games would have known what is going to happen tonight. The all preasure was on french team while in the same time serbian team had it much easier plus support of the 75,000 fans. All respect to french team, your guys gave their best tonight.Stop with criticism and bull s..t about racism and serbias past.Sport got nothing to do with it.What would french team be without Henry or Anelka.I swear,I wouldnt even bother to watch this game if there was not for those 2 players. Why??? Because France without them doesnt deserve much respect. So ,stop that crap.Serbia and France regardless all problems are 2best teams in their group so save your breaths and see You in South Africa. GOD BLESS SERBIA!GO WHITE EAGLES

Hello……Are you for real sascha? without Henry and Anelka?
Give your head a shake please, would you like to compare salary
or the teams that they represent to that of the Serbs? Riberys salary alone is worth more than half the entire Serbian team, if not more.
Aside from Vidic who else you got as a SUPERSTAR? you got one player
playing for Chelsea hardly a Superstar and player for Intermilan? correct?
French team is loaded with talent, unfortunately Captain Domenech has lost his compass!
I don’t agree with any racist comments but to totally ignore history is just as ridiculous.
However this is a Football forum and let’s talk Football.

Once, just once, I’d like talk of Les Bleus to take place without race entering the picture. Every player on that squad is French, born in France or a French colony. I just don’t understand it.

Besides, there’s plenty of bile to throw at players.

Anelka was shit. Toulalan was pretty crappy, as well, and Gourcuff wasn’t exactly setting the world afire, either. Can anyone honestly tell me we wouldn’t have been better off with Trezeguet at centre, flanked by Henry as second striker?

Ribery was worthless. If he’s injured, he shouldn’t have come on. When Henry came off, I knew it was over. And no Benzema?

Serbia played the match that they had to play. Tight at the back, play on the counter. The diving and face-clutching was a little much, but again, a few yellows for simulation would tune that right up. The ref let it go, so why not rock it like that?

Trezeguet seems like he’s semi retired at Juve. He’s getting lost with competition for positions and getting no playing time. With Champion’s league, there will be more opportunities for him but it will probably be his last year over there. Trezeguet would have probably made smarter decisions with the ball with the same chances Anelka had even though he was double or triple teamed most of the night.

I agree with Nikola: we shouldn’t let our disappointment at how things turned out in the game against Serbia make us stoop to insulting the country. Insult the player, the ref, etc… but let’s not get xenophobic. I hope Nikola will continue to participate in this forum.

I am Milan from Serbia. Did not liked the game because the penalty ruined everything and I think that ref made a big mistake. After that it was not the fair match but I am glad that africans scored (although after very stupid mistake from our goal keeper). I hope we will meet soon and have a fair match and let the best one wins.
