I hope it’s going to be one hell of a match tonight. The Crvena Zvezda Stadium is going to be a hell-hole, there’s is going to an unbelievable amount of pressure on both sides. It’s not going to an easy much for either team and I think just about anything can happen.

Of the two TV5 commentators, one saw a penalty but no red, the other saw neither. For what it’s worth.

Incredibly soft penalty after the Brazilian channel I’m watching replayed it. Red card? No way.

I don’t like either of the goalies either. Neither of them seems to have enough confidence or leadership skills to be the starting goalie for the national team.

I’m not blaming Lloris for that — the defense hung him out to dry. But he was looking shaky even on backpasses, and he didn’t convince me on Saturday, either.

France are playing with a lot of guts and determination, yes they are definitely playing like a world cup team. Bodes well for the future. I never understood how some folks trash Mandanda and big up Lloris. Lloris is fine but I always thought Mandanda’s much more solid.

Gourcuff and Toulalan have been very suspect recently. They Need to have Ribery and Alou Diarra take over for these lads.

Well given that France had to chase that game for over 80 mins with 10 men they played pretty damned well not to concede another goal. Henry went over to shake Dom’s hand at the end.

Serbia got a point from this game from a dive and a penalty that should never have been called.

I agree Laurie. It’s hard to be upset with a draw when we played down a man for 80 minutes.

THey should have won, though. They outplayed, as always.

Quick comment on Toulalan: I’ve watched many of his games for France and it’s frustrating to see him win the ball only to give it right back to the opposing team or send his pass out of bounds. He seems to be playing a similar role for France and for Lyon, so it seems like he should be comfortable in his role. Maybe he’s being asked to play more of an offensive role for France?
In any case, he is limited in what he can do, particularly his range of passing. If Domenech is asking him to play more offensively, he will fail. I would love to see more technical skill in our midfield. I think that would make a huge difference.

I thought so as well that even with 10 men they were able to do it. They out played Serbia but as usual the finishing is just not there aside from the usual magic of Titi. I’m not sure why Domenech waited so long to bring on Ribery, but I thought for sure it would be for either Gourcoff or Toulalan and not Henry. It was quite clear from that point on, he was playing for a draw, even though I felt that with a man down Les Bleus had far more scoring opportunities. When is Anelka from Chelsea would show up for the Anelka on Les Bleus? I mean Sagna from Arsenal shows up for the Sagna on Les Bleus !!!

Once, just once, I’d like talk of Les Bleus to take place without race entering the picture. Every player on that squad is French, born in France or a French colony. I just don’t understand it.

Serbia played the match that they had to play. Tight at the back, play on the counter. The diving and face-clutching was a little much, but again, a few yellows for simulation would tune that right up. The ref let it go, so why not rock it like that?

Trezeguet seems like he’s semi retired at Juve. He’s getting lost with competition for positions and getting no playing time. With Champion’s league, there will be more opportunities for him but it will probably be his last year over there. Trezeguet would have probably made smarter decisions with the ball with the same chances Anelka had even though he was double or triple teamed most of the night.

I am Milan from Serbia. Did not liked the game because the penalty ruined everything and I think that ref made a big mistake. After that it was not the fair match but I am glad that africans scored (although after very stupid mistake from our goal keeper). I hope we will meet soon and have a fair match and let the best one wins.

This is great, France will not go to the World cup (I just hope they will loose all they games), this is a blessing, that’s mean that we will not have to watch Football on TV. What a dream !, can you imagine no soccer for a month, a dream who come true.
