Serbia-France: Leave Streams and Comments Here

C’mon, Romania!!! Oh, and France, too.

If we can get a win today at Serbia, our fate is still in our own hands. Our guys can do that. Right?

According to Raymond when asked about the starting XI, « Tout est possible », but l’Equipe is expecting Domenech to go for continuity. Here’s L’Equipe’s probable team:

Lloris – Sagna, Gallas, Abidal, Evra – Toulalan, L. Diarra – Anelka, Gourcuff, Henry – Gignac.

So Abidal in for Escudé. At centerback. Because that worked out so well against Italy in Euros. (I love Abidal, but he’s such a wild card.) In theory Escudé is out for injury, not for the own goal. And l’Equipe is guessing that we broke Ribéry by playing him not fully fit on Saturday, so he probably won’t play. (Okay, I’m reading between the lines, but that’s what I take away from it.) Won’t Bayern Munich be happy?

That said, until the own goal sucked the wind out of France’s sails on Saturday, I REALLY liked the lineup. They had incredible energy and played well together. And I’m also happy that Domenech didn’t pull Gignac just because he had one less-than-great game. I think with some seasoning he could be the key to ending our goal drought.

Game at 21h00. For those who get TV5Monde, they’ll be showing this game also. (Shows how important this one is. How often will TV5Monde show a mid-week game?) If you have a working stream, please leave the link in the comments.

C’mon guys. You can do this one. Allez les bleus!

Will TV5 Asia Telecast This Match?

  • Steven

Serbia 0, France 3 (Henry, Evra, Diarra) …

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Lekarlokin, I don’t know about Asia, but TV5 in the US will be showing it.

  • http://serbia.worldcupblog.org Nikola

I hope it’s going to be one hell of a match tonight. The Crvena Zvezda Stadium is going to be a hell-hole, there’s is going to an unbelievable amount of pressure on both sides. It’s not going to an easy much for either team and I think just about anything can happen.

Anyway, you may want to check out my own preview, to check out the game from an “enemy perspective”:

    http://serbia.worldcupblog.org/world-cup-2010/wcq-preview-serbia-france.html

Chat with you after the game. Cheers!

  • Steven

    Lekarlokin,

Try the TV5 website. Select TV5 asie …

    http://www.tv5.org/cms/chaine-francophone/programmes/p-74-snull-znull-lgnull-Editorial.htm

TV5 Canada doesn’t have it. I’m hoping to catch the repeat on Setanta at 6:30 EST.

  • Benjamin

The Faroe Islands is currently beating Lithuania 2-1 deep into the second half….if they end up winning, I thing I’m going to start rooting for them to make it to the World Cup instead of France :P

  • Benjamin

And Terry, the FFF will not get rid of Domenech after this game, NO MATTER WHAT.
Its sad but it makes common sense, even if we lose to serbia, we are still in position to finish in second place and still in contention to make it to the world cup. Sadly, Domenech’s firing will only happen after the World Cup.

I think it will be at 1-0 or 2-1 game for France

  • http://togo.worldcupblog.org Brad

Yeah, Setanta is showing the game taped at 6:30 EST. As far as a link you might try bet365.com. It appears like they are streaming the game live.

  • http://Bangladesh Lekarlokin

    Thanks Steven

  • md

anyone have a good link to watch the game??

  • md

anyone have a link to watch the game?? please

  • Joel

Hi All, http://www.betfair.com are streaming the game too

  • http://thebeantownfrog.blogspot.com/ GFC

electric atmosphere…Serbia wins they qualify so they will be highly motivated. I fear a france loss

  • Ryan
  • Joel

This is the sort of game after the disappointing performances over the last 12 months, that we will go their and score more than our token 1 goal and come away with a result.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Lloris is looking a little shaky. I am nervous.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Romania scored!!!

  • http://thebeantownfrog.blogspot.com/ GFC

    Red card….Lloris…ouch ouch

  • Joel

    You called that Laurie

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Disaster! Lloris red!

  • sandrahn

I’m listening to a Brazilian feed of the game, I can’t believe what just happened. Ten mins into the game and Lloris is red carded, France down to 10 men. Unbelievable.

  • sandrahn

    So Gignac’s taken off.

  • Jeff

This is what happens when you have to play in Belgrade. Cheating much like ethnic cleansing is common.

  • Danny

Did anyone see contact on the penalty? I didn’t see it in any of the replays.

  • Jeff

Of course there was no contact man! he didn’t even skim the Serb with his hand. A total dive and total cheating. Fifa will certainly be handing down punishment for this.

  • Ryan

It looked to me like Lloris dove to deflect the ball away (I believe he did deflect it) and the striker tripped over his outstretched arms.

  • Ryan

    HENRY!!!!!!!!!!

  • Joel

    Henry You beauty !!!!!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    TITI EQUALIZES!!!

  • Jeff

Hey Ryan, there was no trip. The guy DOVE!

  • sandrahn

“Fifa will certainly be handing down punishment for this.”

I don’t believe that. No way, they hand out punishment for dives only when Scotland demands it (the only two diving bans have been handed out to players playing against Scottish teams).

    HENRY TO THE RESCUE!

  • md

    yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • md

    titi is a god

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Of the two TV5 commentators, one saw a penalty but no red, the other saw neither. For what it’s worth.

  • Ryan

I know, I should have put “tripped” in quotation marks. The striker dove into his outstretched arms.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I’m still not comfortable with our goalkeeping choices if/when we make World Cup.

  • sandrahn

Incredibly soft penalty after the Brazilian channel I’m watching replayed it. Red card? No way.

  • Ryan

I don’t like either of the goalies either. Neither of them seems to have enough confidence or leadership skills to be the starting goalie for the national team.

  • Benj

It’s not Lloris’ fault if the ref was fooled by the dive…

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I’m not blaming Lloris for that — the defense hung him out to dry. But he was looking shaky even on backpasses, and he didn’t convince me on Saturday, either.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

The team has really been energized by Henry’s goal. This is the gutsiest I’ve seen them play.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Romania drew with Austria. THis is good news.

  • Benjamin

    Halftime
i think they can do it

  • sandrahn

They’re going to be exhausted by the end of this game. I just hope Serbia can’t capitalize on that.

  • Nice Li Hung

Don’t know about the sending off.

    Dive.

    He plunged.

  • Nice Li Hung

The guy was desperately holding his leg half a yard behind him. It was pathetic.

Chris was just saying this guy is the worst ref in Serie A.

  • Jeff

    Excellent from Mandanda!

  • Ryan

I definitely missed what just happened but I’m guessing it was close, lol.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Our guys are playing like a World Cup team today. Funny, eh?

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Ryan, saved by the crossbar on a long shot, then Mandanda got the rebound. Very lucky, very good. I’m starting to prefer Mandanda

  • Danny

It was a terrible decision, but Rossetti is considered one of the best refs in Europe.

  • Jeff

It was close but Mandanda is just too good.

  • Danny

Mandanda at his best is a better keeper than Lloris. And he has plenty of experience making saves behind a terrible defense.

  • Ryan

Yea I just saw it on the replay, really nice work by Mandanda. He’s looked quite confident since he took over for Lloris.

  • Jeff

Of course Mandanda is better than Lloris. I think Domenech wanted to shake him up by sitting him.

  • sandrahn

France are playing with a lot of guts and determination, yes they are definitely playing like a world cup team. Bodes well for the future. I never understood how some folks trash Mandanda and big up Lloris. Lloris is fine but I always thought Mandanda’s much more solid.

  • Jeff

Gourcuff and Toulalan have been very suspect recently. They Need to have Ribery and Alou Diarra take over for these lads.

  • Michel-Olivier

    serbia kill the game

  • Jeff

    what?

  • Ryan

Mandanda is looking better and better.

  • Michel-Olivier

    yes lazovic

  • Jao

Got home just in time. Gourcuff must be having a very bad day. Looks frustrated.

  • Jeff

    This Toulalan is killing us!

  • Jeff

    Finally Ribery!

  • Joel

henry off for Ribery , what is Domenech on

  • Jao

I guess that signals we are now playing for a draw.

  • Michel-Olivier

it should of been a red card for diara

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Yeah, Gourcuff hasn’t looked all that solid. L. Diarra is having a really good game, though.

  • Ryan

Make up call for red carding Lloris.

  • sandrahn

    Gallas has been superb!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    A. Diarra for Gourcuff. Good sub, i think?

  • Jeff

I think we better just play for a draw and hope the FFF fires Domenech and brings in Laurent Blanc.

  • Michel-Olivier

    sagna the acter

  • Jao

    Three DMs…….WTF. Ughhhhhhhhh

  • Jeff

surely get A. Diarra in for Gourcuff. A. Diarra should be starting over Toulalan.

  • sandrahn

Dom is playing for the draw now.

  • Benjamin

its a tie. no point of watching anymore

  • sandrahn

    YES! Lazovic sent off!

  • Ryan

    What a strange game.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

There are good draws and bad draws. This was a good draw.

  • Michel-Olivier

    france suck

  • Benjamin

    digusting

  • Michel-Olivier

    i hope they don’t qualify

  • Jeff

    LOL! Toulalan

  • sandrahn

Well given that France had to chase that game for over 80 mins with 10 men they played pretty damned well not to concede another goal. Henry went over to shake Dom’s hand at the end.

Serbia got a point from this game from a dive and a penalty that should never have been called.

  • Danny

I agree Laurie. It’s hard to be upset with a draw when we played down a man for 80 minutes.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

THey should have won, though. They outplayed, as always.

  • Jao

A victory was paramount. I don’t care if we had 7 men out there. Henry said we were going out there to win tonight. Nothing less. Watch in the post game interview, he’s going to switch it up saying, “The red card hurt our chances to win tonight.” Bull.

  • Ryan

I don’t see how you can say things like “France sucks” and “disgusting” after they were able to tie the game and not concede a 2nd goal with only 10 men on the pitch.

    PLUS, Serbia’s a good team.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I don’t get Domenech taking Henry off. Henry was stellar all game today and a part of almost all of our best chances.

Also: I’m now sitting here watching French cartoons. This is what my life has become.

  • Jeff

Actually it did hurt our chances. Still, Domenech should not be there.

  • Jao

Of course it did, but Henry said we were going to Serbia to win, nothing less. Meaning regardless of what happens in the match, we are going to win. We didn’t.

  • Michel-Olivier

    @Ryan
    not a “les bleus” fan

  • Benj

Quick comment on Toulalan: I’ve watched many of his games for France and it’s frustrating to see him win the ball only to give it right back to the opposing team or send his pass out of bounds. He seems to be playing a similar role for France and for Lyon, so it seems like he should be comfortable in his role. Maybe he’s being asked to play more of an offensive role for France?
In any case, he is limited in what he can do, particularly his range of passing. If Domenech is asking him to play more offensively, he will fail. I would love to see more technical skill in our midfield. I think that would make a huge difference.

  • Michel-Olivier

hope the next coach franconize the team

  • Jeff

Franconize the team? What does that mean? Are you some sort of racist scum getting on here?

  • John

I may be wrong, but I think Micheal was referring to PLAYING like France, not putting more whites on the team.

Right now, our team is not French quality football.

  • Jeff

If thats the case then I understand.

  • Michel-Olivier

    @jeff
i’m not and never will be racist

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

If that’s the case, the comment can stay. Any racist stuff gets deleted.

  • Michel-Olivier

i don’t believe in races only the human race, but i do believe in ethnic groups.

  • Foreverzidane

I thought so as well that even with 10 men they were able to do it. They out played Serbia but as usual the finishing is just not there aside from the usual magic of Titi. I’m not sure why Domenech waited so long to bring on Ribery, but I thought for sure it would be for either Gourcoff or Toulalan and not Henry. It was quite clear from that point on, he was playing for a draw, even though I felt that with a man down Les Bleus had far more scoring opportunities. When is Anelka from Chelsea would show up for the Anelka on Les Bleus? I mean Sagna from Arsenal shows up for the Sagna on Les Bleus !!!

  • Foreverzidane

Why do you guys even give him the pleasure of this argument?
Just put him on perma ignore !!!
Anyone who’s that obsessive in hating a team because of their origin
    doesn’t deserve a discussion.

  • http://serbia.worldcupblog.org Nikola

I have to say I’m really disappointed. Not because of the match, but because of this comment by Jeff:

“This is what happens when you have to play in Belgrade. Cheating much like ethnic cleansing is common.”

I’m just wondering what is this supposed to mean. You guys always talk about how racism and racial insults are extremely bad and should be forbidden, which is all fine by me. But it’s all okay when you talk about nations like that, right?

That very same Jeff later said this to Michel-Olivier:

“Franconize the team? What does that mean? Are you some sort of racist scum getting on here?”

I just want to say I’m really insulted by this hypocrisy. If it isn’t okay to judge people by color of their skin (which definitely isn’t, don’t get me wrong), why is it okay to judge people and whole nations because of some historical events? Are you historian, Jeff? Have you ever been to Belgrade? What exactly do you know about the wars you are referring to? And even if you do know what happened, what connection does it have with a football game?

I’m really, really disappointed by this. You may all think it isn’t a big deal, but people from Serbia are actually tired of being labelled all the time as savages and murderers by people who know NOTHING about all of those sad events they are referring to. If you consider just how soft a racist comment can be for it to we banned and widely condemned, then I just call on you apply the same criteria for comments like this. If you don’t, then it’s all really a matter of hypocrisy to me.

NO to racism and NO to nationalistic insults.

  • Foreverzidane

I had to click on all comments to retrieve that comment you’re referring to, and I gotta say you do have a valid argument Nikola!

  • sascha

I’m a hard core Serb who love his country and respect others. What happend in Belgrade tonight is what any person who’s seen more than 2 games would have known what is going to happen tonight. The all preasure was on french team while in the same time serbian team had it much easier plus support of the 75,000 fans. All respect to french team, your guys gave their best tonight.Stop with criticism and bull s..t about racism and serbias past.Sport got nothing to do with it.What would french team be without Henry or Anelka.I swear,I wouldnt even bother to watch this game if there was not for those 2 players. Why??? Because France without them doesnt deserve much respect. So ,stop that crap.Serbia and France regardless all problems are 2best teams in their group so save your breaths and see You in South Africa. GOD BLESS SERBIA!GO WHITE EAGLES

  • Foreverzidane

Hello……Are you for real sascha? without Henry and Anelka?
Give your head a shake please, would you like to compare salary
or the teams that they represent to that of the Serbs? Riberys salary alone is worth more than half the entire Serbian team, if not more.
Aside from Vidic who else you got as a SUPERSTAR? you got one player
playing for Chelsea hardly a Superstar and player for Intermilan? correct?
French team is loaded with talent, unfortunately Captain Domenech has lost his compass!
I don’t agree with any racist comments but to totally ignore history is just as ridiculous.
However this is a Football forum and let’s talk Football.

    A L E Z L E S B L E U S

  • http://www.barcelonafootballblog.com Kxevin

Once, just once, I’d like talk of Les Bleus to take place without race entering the picture. Every player on that squad is French, born in France or a French colony. I just don’t understand it.

Besides, there’s plenty of bile to throw at players.

Anelka was shit. Toulalan was pretty crappy, as well, and Gourcuff wasn’t exactly setting the world afire, either. Can anyone honestly tell me we wouldn’t have been better off with Trezeguet at centre, flanked by Henry as second striker?

Ribery was worthless. If he’s injured, he shouldn’t have come on. When Henry came off, I knew it was over. And no Benzema?

Serbia played the match that they had to play. Tight at the back, play on the counter. The diving and face-clutching was a little much, but again, a few yellows for simulation would tune that right up. The ref let it go, so why not rock it like that?

  • Jean-Michel

Trezeguet seems like he’s semi retired at Juve. He’s getting lost with competition for positions and getting no playing time. With Champion’s league, there will be more opportunities for him but it will probably be his last year over there. Trezeguet would have probably made smarter decisions with the ball with the same chances Anelka had even though he was double or triple teamed most of the night.

  • lefutur

yes, please ban the racist troll

  • Benj

I agree with Nikola: we shouldn’t let our disappointment at how things turned out in the game against Serbia make us stoop to insulting the country. Insult the player, the ref, etc… but let’s not get xenophobic. I hope Nikola will continue to participate in this forum.

  • milan

I am Milan from Serbia. Did not liked the game because the penalty ruined everything and I think that ref made a big mistake. After that it was not the fair match but I am glad that africans scored (although after very stupid mistake from our goal keeper). I hope we will meet soon and have a fair match and let the best one wins.

  • Zeefrog

This is great, France will not go to the World cup (I just hope they will loose all they games), this is a blessing, that’s mean that we will not have to watch Football on TV. What a dream !, can you imagine no soccer for a month, a dream who come true.
I’m french but I can stand this dicusting sport, this is a chame to see those pro acting like this, faking all the game and the fans who get crasy and kill other, good way to teach to kids the way to ack in life.
Football suck badly, it should be banner, point.

    Viva the X Games

  • jeanpierre

@zeefrog: even my english is better than yours, funny
but just a question: why do you go on a football site when you’re some footballphobia-suffering-thing? thats just masochist,

btw DidYouKnowThat: if there’s football on tv you can switch to another channel or evenn switch the TV off!!!you don’t need to watch it!! I hope this interesting information will make your life less torture by watching 2 stupid flocks running after a round thing
