I guess the past decades have exagerated certain tendancies to hyper-nationalism. It hasn't been mentioned here that two weeks after France-Serbia, Toulouse was playing Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA I think, and some 4 Toulouse fans in a café got attacked by 20 guys; one Toulouse fan got killed -every organ in his body was damaged. Stories are numerous. In the 90s, many Belgrade Red Star hooligans were recruted by the militia Arkan's Tigers, which were authors of gruesome massacres in Bosnia and other scenes. The Marseillaise jeering, the booing every French touch of the ball even when down one man and an unfair goal, were rude, but other countries have done that.
