The Thing About Govou
Here’s the thing about Sidney Govou: He is maddeningly inconsistent. He alternates between absolute invisibility and moments of sheer brilliance. He’s like the French Landon Donovan.
And then, just when you’re ready to throw him off the roof, he comes up with something like this (from yesterday’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich) that reminds you why he’s selected over and over again.
An amazing bit of never-say-die (even though he gave the ball away with a pass straight to a Munich player, he did get it back) that gave Lyon the will to live after they went down 0-3 by the half. They lost 3-2, but they put in a great second half performance (even without Cris and Juninho) and still advance to the next round of Champions League.

Gouvou is exactly what he is…a decent player. Never too spectacular never horrible. I think that Domenech loves him because he does exactly what the manager wants – play as a striker no problem, play wide ok, come off the bench sure. And yes, every time I count him out, he scores goals. I think that is what is incredibly frustrating, you see that he can score but does not do it consistently and that means teams do not fear him….I fear that at times Gouvou being called up to Led Bleus blocks a younger player – such as a Menez or Ben Arfa from getting more time at Clairfontaine.

I think the problem is he is too busy doing dumb shit to ever concentrate 100% on the game.
Case in point: http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-francegovou&prov=reuters&type=lgns
just add that to all his other orgy related dumbness in the past and you can understand hes more of a train wreck than a professional soccer player.

He also likes his round little women.
Apparently he was coming back from Boumsong’s birthday bash. What I wouldn’t do to see some pictures from that party.
