UEFA’s “Player Updates”
If any of you don’t visit UEFA.com’s coverage of Euro 2008, you should because it’s full of a lot of interesting things like articles, photos, trivia, statistics, and all those other details that we footie nerds find so gripping (or maybe it’s just me…).
One of the newer features is their “Player Updates” which are updated every other day about every single player on the squad. While some of the updates are merely about their performances, others are a bit more personal, and it’s a nice way for fans to stay in closer touch with the players.
Here are some of my favorites from yesterday (these have since been updated):
Jean-Alain Boumsong: Appeared slightly uncomfortable leaving the Letzigrund Stadion in a suit that looked at least one size too small for him.
François Clerc: Has been playing pinball and table tennis in his spare time at the hotel.
Sébastien Frey: The ACF Fiorentina man admitted he was no longer certain if Raymond Domenech regards him as France’s second-choice goalkeeper.
Franck Ribéry: Had a strangely subdued first half, but was the only France player to improve in the second period.

Thanks, Inara!
In all fairness, I think Anelka’s header wasn’t so easy to handle. It was coming to him at a strange angle.

Hilarious comment about Boumsong. A reader earlier commented on them looking bellhops. They should’ve stuck to the classic black suits that most teams work with. Hopefully Clerc’s activities won’t be limited to the hotel on Friday.

Coupet
Sagnol Thuram Gallas Abidal
Makelele
Ribery Evra
Nasri
Benzema Henry
