Watching the Game? Leave Comments and Streams

First thing: If you’re catching the game on delay on Setanta, DON’T read the comments. I broke down and forked over my $19.99 to Setanta to watch the game live, so I will be leaving updates there.

And if you have a working illicit stream, please leave that in the comments as well. It looks like there will be multiple options. Myp2p.eu is a good starting point.

I am every bit as nervous as the rest of you. I’m fairly certain France can do this, but… Nothing’s ever certain till it’s certain, is it?

Expected lineup is the same as Saturday, with the exception of Julien Escude stepping in for the injure Eric Abidal in central defense. Which makes me a little nervous. (No own-goals today, okay, Julien?)

Lloris; Sagna, Gallas, Escude, Evra; A. Diarra, L. Diarra; Anelka, Gourcuff, Henry; Gignac

Okay, gents. You can do this.

Allez les bleus!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

At least Ireland can’t get away with playing a defensive game. There is that.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

And now I can’t get the Setanta channel to work anyway. What a ripoff.

  • Jean-François

I like the formation, except escuade….

  • sandrahn

    Wow, Laurie, what a rip!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I’m curious to see how defensive France plays.

  • sandrahn

this game is already giving me a heart attack!

  • Jean-François

    great my link quit

  • sandrahn

I knew it was too good to last! The link is out!

  • Danny
  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Okay, my stream just locked up and Setanta’s not working. what’s going on?

  • Jean-François

http://hdfoot.net/ Laurie this one is working for me, our defence is sucking hard right now.

  • Danny

For those still without stream, Escude out with head injury. Squillaci in.

  • Jean-François

OMG OMG OMG OMG GIGNAC WOW! what a beast! no goal though.

  • sandrahn

seems every link is breaking down

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I did finally get Setanta to work. Gignac shoots just high.

  • Jean-François

http://www.watchprem.com/channel1.php Change to this one its working beautifully, except maybe the sound

  • Fabrice
  • sandrahn

ok, this one’s working for now (scroll down): http://www.rytestation.blogspot.com/

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

The Setanta announcer is driving me insane. I think this is the same guy that was on FSC for Faroes. Gignac with a hard “g”, Gourcuff with a soft one. AARRGGH!

  • sandrahn

geezus krist, sagna’s mouth is bleeding

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Sagna is gushing blood from his lower lip.

  • Jean-François

the watchprem one has a very nice resolution

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

France is really not playing well. We’ll be lucky to get nil-nil.

  • Jean-François

Laurie, our defence is really….. scaring me.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Still 0-0. France is giving away the ball a lot in the midfield, but so far they’re surviving.

  • sandrahn

can France handle this pressure until the Irish get tired? Can Lloris hold on? Please god!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Jean-Francois, me too! They keep giving up the ball in dangerous positions!

  • Benjamin

    Lloris is our savior

  • Jean-François

    I love lloris, BRILLIANT.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Robbie Keane was NOT offside, but France defense stops playing as if he were. Lloris comes through BIG there. This game is SCARY.

  • Benjamin

We are going to take a goal before half time.

  • Alex T
  • sandrahn

I don’t think I can watch the rest of this

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Sandrahn, you and me both.

  • Jean-François

    I have a love/hate relationship with Gignac.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

APG misses an easy, easy pass and it goes out for a throw.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

France is not even trying for the 50-50 balls.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Lord, is this really only the 31st minute?

  • Benjamin

    FUCK

  • Jean-François

    I hate my life.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sandrahn

    you knew it was coming

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I don’t think I even want to watch the rest.

  • Ryan

    Are they even trying?

  • Jean-François

gourcuff, stop. long range doesn’t work.

  • sandrahn

wtf is going on with this team???

  • alex

    Where’s the damn coverage!?!

  • alex

Man, if Gignac hadn’t missed that shot in the last match…

  • Jean-François

GOURCUFF WOULD YOU STOP THROWING AWAY THE FUCKING POSSESSION. SUB HIM OUT FOR BENZEMA.

  • Jean-François

Gignac pay attention, that was your chance.

  • Jean-François

if France would have started like they are playing now, then maybe things would be better….

  • sandrahn

    hurry up half time!

  • lovable_crook

    allez Irelanddddddddddddddddddddddddd
what a goal!!1if not for Lloris, u would be trailing by 3..but, seriously, France will win this, they cant lose this one..

  • Jean-François

fuck fuck fuck, by the way can I swear on this blog?

  • lefutur

anybody have a working link? im dying here

  • Jean-François
  • sandrahn

lefutur, right now these two links are working for me:

http://www.watchprem.com/channel1.php (when it stops, refresh, it always comes back)

    http://www.atdhe.net/10488/watch-france-vs-ireland

  • alex

Time for doms to inspire his team…

  • Ian

Gignac has not seen the ball…does domenech really hate BENZ that much..with the world cup on the line dont you have to give him a run up top in the second half?

  • sandrahn

This one works too on and off (it comes back when you refresh):

    http://www.rytestation.blogspot.com/ (Station 2)

  • Danny

Any chance Zidane kicks in the changing room door, puts his head through Domenech’s chest and appoints himself manager? That may be our only hope of getting out of this.

  • lovable_crook

am i the only one here(inspite of hating the french national team by all my heart) to have a firm belief that they will scrape thru this??Ireland has used up its energy, france to win by 3-1, but ..if ireland scores another, well

  • Doumé

Honestly I don’t think the Irish can keep up this pressing for the whole game. At some point they’ll go flat and we’ll start playing our game.
On French TV they’re acting as if we were behind by 3. THAT is the problem. Start pushing instead of crying.

  • lefutur

thanks for the links.i just wish it wasnt so painful to watch the screen. :/

  • sandrahn

lovable, a lot of us here don’t have much faith in this manager … I for one think France are very capable of screwing this up.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Danny, I like that idea.

  • sandrahn

Doume, that’s what I’m hoping for, Ireland will just get tired, not score another goal and France will take over (like the first leg)

  • lefutur

good point Doumé. where is the fighting spirit?

  • sandrahn

Of course, if France don’t score, then it goes to pens and Trappatoni has trained EXTENSIVELY with his players on penalties.

  • sandrahn

“where is the fighting spirit?” — the Irish have all of it!

  • lefutur

did the crowd really boo at halftime?

  • sandrahn

Well it’s Paris, isn’t it? It’s what the Parisians do!

  • alex

    probably, it’s paris…

  • Terry from Naples fl

well i have good news NO MORE DOMENECH, Things are looking really bad, if France qualifies REGARDLESS DOMENECH OUT

  • Benj

Its a win-win: either we go to the world cup or we get rid of Dom. Just kidding…They can pick this up in the second half, but that really was a gutless first half. We will see if they have any pride.

  • sandrahn

Can’t understand the mental preparation of this team in that first half — certainly they KNEW Ireland were going to go all out and really take it to them from the start. It’s like they were caught by complete surprise.

  • http://oleole sinclair

What is Domenech doing? Why hasn’t he brought on Malouda, who can turn a game, and Benzema?
It’s obvious the current line-up isn’t working. He has to risk all now. It’s too close to call.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

Wow France. Way to play like the world class team you are supposed to be.

  • sandrahn

On that rystation link I posted, Station 1 also has the game (in French). Station 2 is in English.

  • Jean-François

    AVEZ FOI! ALLEZ LES BLEUS!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    O’Shea was NOT EVEN MARKED!!!!

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

Who was supposed to be marking O’Shea?

  • sandrahn

The Irish just want this more

  • sandrahn

    Govou’s coming on…but not Benzema

  • Jean-François

    wasted.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

I have faith in Govou. He can often come through when you need him.

  • sandrahn

True enuf, Inara. He’s often proven to be a good impact sub.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

LOL @ zidane and barthez’s faces.

  • Jean-François

    Don’t disappoint Zidane and Barthez

  • Jean-François

Given is too good for distance goals….

  • alex

Maybe Domenech’s wife will leave him after this game… and marry me

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Didn’t we have a passing game once upon a time?

  • Jean-François

    ooh! Gignac close!

  • Jean-François

    FOUL FOUL WHAT THE FUCK

  • sandrahn

Laurie, France also used to be team that could keep the ball for more than a few seconds.

  • Jean-François

    GOVOU AND ANELKA!

  • sandrahn

Govou looks really up for it

  • Jean-François

LLORIS IS SEXY, well not really.

  • alex

    Loris: goalkeeper of the year

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    I heart Lloris.

  • Jao

Just got in……..where’s the guy that said we were going to score five goals at home……….? *sigh*

  • Alex T

with lloris goalkeeping maybe pks are what we need

  • lefutur

dont say that Alex. i dont want to go penalties today

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

So what exactly happens during team practices? Clearly, they don’t practice their passing, their heading, their defending, their attacking, their corners, or their freekicks. So what exactly does Domenech have the players do during practices?

  • lefutur

“lack of game plan” says the commentator *sigh*

  • alex

Looks like france are finally starting to play

  • lefutur

Inara, i was wondering the same thing! i watch the practices on the FFF website and they play soccer-tennis and stupid stuff like that.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

I know tons of people hate Govou, but he’s had more impact in five minutes than the rest of the attacking lineup for the entire game.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Nico, you GOTTA get that on frame!!!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    I am appreciating Sagna, though.

  • alex

i almost just had a heart attack

  • Jean-François

………..Any french striker could have finished that

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Okay, my heart just stopped. somebody bring me a debibrillator.

  • lefutur

wth? what is going on in our defense???

  • Benjamin

i am having a constant heart attack

  • Ryan

I think the entire French team needs a defibrillator.

  • sandrahn

Sagna’s busting a gut out there

  • alex

Take of Sagna, bring on THE BIG BENZ

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

In moments like these, it’s humiliating supporting the France NT.

  • Danny

With the possibility of extra time, Domenech isn’t going to make the last substitution for a while.

  • alex

Has Ireland used up all 3?

  • sandrahn

Honestly, based on this game, France don’t deserve to go thru

  • Jao

Damn, that look on Benz’s face was like…….why? C’mon Bleus. God!

  • Danny

    Slovenia has advanced over Russia

  • sandrahn

OMG, Danny, I hadn’t heard that! Wow!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Wow, that’s huge Danny.

  • Danny

    And Portugal is through

  • sandrahn

    Portugal are thru

  • sandrahn

It’s like there’s a collective French brain freeze when they get into the opposition’s box

  • Danny

Slovenia-Russia finished 2-2 on aggregate. Slovenia through on away goals.

  • lefutur

honestly, what’s the point of qualifying if we keep this coach???

  • sandrahn

    Malouda coming on

  • Benjamin

    WHY IS MALOUDA COMING ON???????

  • alex

    Honestly, what is doms doing?

  • sandrahn

Gourcuff should’ve come off a long time ago

  • Benjamin

benzema looks like he is going to cry

  • Jao

    Malouda?….Malouda!

  • alex

Uggghhhhhhh. Get to extra time already.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

I think our only hope is that Ireland run out of juice in ET. France has the ability to stay fresher and more focused over a longer amount of time. At least, I hope so – all that experience surely must count for something?

  • sandrahn

Incredible — France’s biggest name young striker, last chance to qualify for the wc, and Dom keeps him on the bench. You can’t make this up.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

I think even Malouda is confused as to why he’s coming on and not Benz.

  • Jean-François

    is it golden goal?

  • Danny

Dom will have the excuse that having to substitute Escude handcuffed him on the substitution issue.

On a totally unrelated note, when Zizou and Barthez appear on screen, does anyone else keep expecting one of them to give a thumbs down and have someone fed to a lion?

  • Danny

Not golden goal, but away goals still apply. So if both sides score, Ireland would advance.

  • http://www.barcelonafootballblog.com Kxevin

I hate Domenech so much. I’m sorry, but there is no reason for Benzema to be on the bench. So what if he said that motivation is an issue for country vs club team. He’s a talent and a pro. Get his ass out there.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I don’t think I can watch this. I am not kidding.

  • Jean-François

    im sick.

  • Jao

penalties are what scare me. we really really need to score.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    Danny, re: the lions thing:

We can only hope. (Buh-bye, Doms!)

  • Jean-François

Lloris Yashin award? if we make it?

  • Bren ireland

HaHa watch out South Africa the Irish are on there way.

  • Jean-François

    Don’t start Diarra again.

  • lovable_crook

still, france will scrape thu, all they need is a goal..

  • lovable_crook

I am seeing players like Liam Lawrence and Patrick Doyle playing for Ireland. I cant believe that Domeneck cannot make a star studded team beat this Irish team or at least play better than this Irish team.
howcan e bench he best young player in this last slalom?’

  • sandrahn

lovable, the Irish deserve to go thru

  • Bren ireland

Put em under pressure come on push it

  • Michel-Olivier

the french team is getting shot by snippers

  • lovable_crook

was that a penalty on anelka??iam 90% sure

  • Benjamin

    LA DELIVRANNCEEEEEEEEEE

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!

  • Bren ireland

ah no fuckin way what just happened there he haad the ball in his hand

  • sandrahn

handball…happy to see France score but the Irish are rightly aggrieved

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Holy crap, I am ASHAMED of that!

  • Benjamin

wow that hand ball control by henry was pure professional class. LOL

  • Danny

    La main de dieu?

  • Michel-Olivier

    what the fuck
    offside + handball.

  • Jao

Wow…….actually feel sorry for the Irish. Clear handball. Still happy though.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

    That is just shameful.

  • Doc Latin

    Wow. Offside AND hand ball!

  • sandrahn

Michel-Olivier, just ONCE LEAVE YOUR F—–G DISGUSTING RACISM TO YOURSELF AND OFF THIS BLOG!!!

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Sandrahn, I took care of the comment.

  • Jao

Yeah Michel, that’s (your foolish thoughts) getting kind of dry and old.

  • lovable_crook

i told u french would nick it, but that was really shameful, i did not expect it from a player of Henry´s claibre..

  • sandrahn

M-O, you labelled “African teams” as cheaters — that is racist.

    Thanks Laurie.

And btw, it’s very doubtful that either Ireland or France can get thru the group stages at the wc next summer anyway.

  • Stasio

    HANDBALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Smac

France deserve to be kicked out of thw rowld cup for blatant cheating. I cant believe Henri. He used to be my hero at Arsenal. But no more. He is not a man of honour. Come on Ireland. Just one more goal.

  • Stasio

    HANDBALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Michel-Olivier

i wonder how much the french paid the referee? half a million euros?

  • sandrahn

    lovable, it’s called desperation

  • lovable_crook

Hnery is a cheat..irish must be gutted, after all the chances they missed, keane missed two sitters, but we all knew this result..

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

Oh this is so embarrassing. Ireland will rightfully hate us forever.

  • Stasio

    Italia back2back champs

    Buffon-Grosso-Cannavaro-Chillini-Zambro
    Camroniessi-Pirlo-DeRossi-Aquliani
    Totti
    Pazzini

    Fear the champs

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

Wait, can FIFA overturn goals if they turn out to be flukes?

  • Benjamin

    Sagna: man of the match

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

I am not sure why Italian supporters are spamming a France vs. Ireland post.

  • Stasio

So i can root for the Irish and Trappatoni my favorite coach.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

    haha at Zidane’s face.

  • Jao

The Irish and English media were already killing us before the playoffs even started. Imagine if we advance with the current score.

  • sandrahn

Stasio, supporter of cheating Italy getting all upset over France cheating, love the hypocrisy. Italy committed scored a goal v. Holland with a handball too, spare us the outrage.

And Italy will be knocked out early — Europeans don’t win outside Europe.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

I know. We need another goal for just that reason, Jao.

  • Stasio

The goal against Holland was disallowed and Pazzini admitted right away it was a hand ball by not celebrating, what are you comparing? Italy will last atleast to the final 8 as we always do..

  • Michel-Olivier

i hope france get trash at the wc

  • Danny

Hold on. Before any referee bias talk gets out of hand, we’ve had two strong penalty shouts turned down, and even if the Gallas goal were disallowed, Ireland wouldn’t be winning. The game would be going to penalties.

  • sandrahn

Stasio, I didn’t see Henry celebrating. Yes, the goal was disallowed — but Italy still cheated. The difference was in the refereeing, not the attempted cheating by the players. Hypocrite.

  • Jao

I hope we don’t overdue our celebration making things even worse.

  • Michel-Olivier

    danny
last time i check france lost to penalty in 06

  • Benjamin

gouvou to seal the win? NOOOOOO

  • sandrahn

And Stasio, Italy didn’t reach the last 8 in 2002 – a wc outside Europe

  • Stasio

he was diving face first to the ground and his hand was out they dont compare

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Sidney could’ve erased the shame. But no.

  • lovable_crook

now sandrahn, stop talking crpp..Italians did not cheat, pazzini pointd out his hand ad told that it was not a valid goal,,just clarify before u talk..Henry lso acheated in 2006 world cup, penalty against portugaland that freekick against spain which resulted in the goal..Henry juggled th ball with his hand,in any case two players were offside too, blatantly!!FIFA is a joke
Irish should not lose this tie. It’s a disgrace. Replay the game in Sudan.”

  • Stasio

they didnt because of the biggest scam in world cup history :Byron Moreno

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byron_Moreno

read if you dont believe me or care to remember

  • lovable_crook

and sandrahan, the whole world knows that italia were robbed in 2002 by Fifa and Byron Moreno the referee…dont even start that, but France lost against senegal..

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

Wow. Just…wow. So many emotions right now.

  • alex

Has any NT ever fired their coach before the world cup after the team qualified?

  • http://www.barcelonafootballblog.com Kxevin

Look, the ref didn’t make the call. Is a player going to try to take every advantage? You bet. It happens all the time. Henry isn’t the first, and he won’t be the last.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

I’m a little disturbed to discover that I don’t mind too much that France qualified because of a handball.

Does this make me a bad human being?

  • http://www.barcelonafootballblog.com Kxevin

So. Happy. Right. Now. Now to cap it off with Barca wins against Inter and in the Clasico.

  • http://www.barcelonafootballblog.com Kxevin

No, Inara. It makes you a fan. :D

  • Jao

I have a feeling we are going to get an easy group, which will in turn piss people off even more. Ha, WC here we come.

  • Danny

This may be the perfect result. We qualify, but in such a disastrous way that Domenech is fired. Considering everything he’s survived, I’d still be surprised if it happens.

  • Alex T

imagine if we had our WC squad (Ribery, Toulalan, Abidal, etc)

  • John

    Okay, I hate France now.

  • Jao

Alex T, same thing would have happen. There’s just no cohesion within this team.

  • sandrahn

Inara, no it doesn’t make you a bad person.

lovable, the point remains: HE USED HIS HAND TO SCORE A GOAL.

Stasio and lovable, spare me the moral outrage. If one of your players had dived or scored with a handball and you were going thru to the wc, you’d be celebrating right now. And as I said, France (or Ireland) won’t get past the group stages.

And don’t even try to say your players are lilly white saints. The idea that Italian players never cheat is a massive joke.

I’m glad France are thru but I don’t like the way they did it. They’ll crap out in S. Africa.

Still, the ref denied France 2 legitimate penalties.

  • Michel-Olivier

    fuck astrology, domenech, and france

  • Jose

As a mild France supporter.. this is exactly what “verguenza ajena” is like.

    A Foreign Shame…

  • Benj

@ Danny: one can only hope.

I guess Henry takes one for the team in this game…I’m not sure whether I’m happy we qualified. This is embarrassing and Ireland deserved this much more.

  • Paddy

    Cheating French Bastards

  • Paul McKenna

This French team are a shower of fuckers. If that fellow had any backbone at all he would have owned up. Hopefully the plane gets lost on the way over and they dont get there until after the final.

  • lovable_crook

Amen Sandrahn, well put, but i disgaree on the last bit..Anelk´s was a dive a blatant dive over Given´s hand and i did not see the other penalty..Infact,Ireland dominated the game and if onlythey had converted their sitters..keane..duff

  • Paul

Fair juice to you Paddy. Blood pressure is high here because of the cheating bastards. Snails. More like a shower of worms.

  • Jean-François

If the Irish are going to be mean to us for the goal. Then I’ll strike back. AHAHAHAHAHAHA HENRY HAND OF GOD!

  • John

    Very maturely handled there Jean-Francois

  • Jao

Wow, even L’Equipe and FF are saying goal was unearned. FF called the goal cruel and insulting to the Irish. Ugh!

  • John

France,u robbed the Irish tonight with direct offside followed by henrys double handball, that will go down in history like maradonas hand of god….. That ref should be fired.sarkozy, how many francs did u pay the ref for his behaviour. Excuse my angerbut I hope u get knocked out

  • Paul

If I were a French national supporting my national team, tonight I would be ashamed of them. Its time that the video ref was brought in same as other sports then this deliberate cheating would be done away with.

  • sandrahn

John, so you hating France is “mature”? I can’t stand France getting thru this way but neither can I stand this hypocritical moralizing and sanctimonious outrage. It’s total BS because they’d be celebrating if one of their players had done the same and their team went thru. If people are going to come on here and throw insults at the French then they deserve some comeback. TOUGH!

  • John

Two Jons here? Well, that’s confusing. By the way, I’m not Irish, I’m English.

  • http://chelsea.theoffside.com Jack

Barca fans support France? Shocking. Damn, sarcasm cuts like a knife.

  • Jao

    francs….? Seriously?

  • sandrahn

Anyway, France will get their comeuppance at the wc, they’ll get knocked out early anyway.

  • Twister

that goal should never have stood it was a disgraceful way to decide such a big match..

such a shame that france have gone to world cup based on a hero of mine henrys hand ball, he has always been such a good honest character , such a shame that he might be remembered for this by many in ireland.

How the refere can miss two handbals is unbelivable, I am sure the bigwigs are happy though.

  • http://chelsea.theoffside.com Jack

    Oh Henry >>> Thierry Henry

  • http://Ireland Paul

Well. I would like to think that we would not go through by cheating. I think that this would be beneath the Irish. A hell of a long way. Crawling in the sewers comes to mind. Henry is lower than a rat on the food chain. Even lower than a cockroach.

  • Michel-Olivier

maradona touch the ball once, henry handle the ball like he was playing volleyball.

  • Bunny Egan

T Henry never buy another Gillette Razor !

  • gaston

michel oliver don’t say such foolish things. have you experienced racism????? for u to talk like that

  • http://www.serbia.worldcupblog.org Nikola

Ah, this is the moment I’ve been waiting for!

Remember how some of you ranted and ranted about that “cheating” by Nikola Žigić in the game against Serbia? Remember how some of you even went racist and mumbled about “cheating and ethnic cleansing in Belgrade”? Well, if that penalty by Lloris wasn’t a penalty (and I also think it wasn’t), but just a cheating by that “Serbian scum” Žigić, how do you call this what happened today? Is Henry the hero while Žigić was simply a cheating bastard?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is football. Players cheat and lie whenever they can and there simply isn’t a challenge system capable of fighting with this problem. So, don’t blame any Žigić’s and Henry’s in the world, but the referee system which allows such things to happen without any consequences for those who played unfair. I’m for a change of rules, how about you?

I just hope some of you will think twice before they label a player or a nation as “scum” or a referee as “being paid”. These things can happen to any player and to any football team. Remember that fact and your lives will be a lot less filled with hate. I think the referees might be biased from time to time, but not EVERY TIME a call seems vividly unfair.

Are now we all done with the insults?

    Tricheurs….

ANY PLAYER WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE GOAL EVEN IRISH PLAYERS

  • AURELIUS

FIFA Fair Play ? What a joke.

You cheated Ireland and mocked Serbia. Hopefully nemesis can do her bit soon.

I follow Barca as well and Henry is a disgrace. He and Malouda cheated you to the last WC final so it’s not surprising really.

  • Jose

    Well played, ESPN Soccernet…

    “Henry hands France final spot”

  • Alex T

hahah i know i should feel ashamed but this is clever

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

France haters, we get it, France didn’t deserve their goal. But all this moral high ground nonsense needs to stop – no team is going to ask the ref not to count that goal. Even the Irish defender from the game admits that:

  • alex

    (1) France outplayed you guys in the first match. (2) Ireland << France.

  • Alex T

they outplayed us in second half of the first game??not the whole game

  • http://juventus.theoffside.com alessio

But all this moral high ground nonsense needs to stop – no team is going to ask the ref not to count that goal.

Sounds exactly like a fan of the team with someone like Malouda in it. Have you all forgotten his dive in the WC06 final? Typical France.

  • alex

Enjoy watching the world cup from home kevin

  • alex

Maybe you can invite the irish NT to watch with you

  • http://juventus.theoffside.com alessio

Actually the more I think about it, the more I like this situation. Let’s watch France get humiliated again alla Euro2008 group stages.

  • Apuzzo

And they say us Italians are dirty! haha. Come June, when you get knocked out of the WC analyst and fans will say “Well, they didn’t deserve to be in South Africa in the first place.”

I feel sorry for Ireland cause they deserved to go through but oh well! thats football.

  • http://france.worldcupblog.org Laurie

“Yes, it was a handball, but I’m not the referee,” said Thierry Henry. “I was behind two Irish players, the ball rebounded and hit my hand, I continued to play, the referee didn’t whistle. I can’t say that it wasn’t a handball. Yes, it was a handball.”

  • http://KVN1704@HOTMAIL.COM kEVIN O CONNOR

it rebounded off his arm which then he controlled off his hand by an “accident” haha he can hardley say he done it on purpose and he cant say he didnt do it because the whole world seen it??

  • Jeff X

The day Ireland outplays anybody will be the day football ends as an entertaining spectacle. LOL!

  • Paul

Why does everyone assume that Ireland goes on to win in the absence of this goal? They very well might have lost in the closing minutes, seconds, or even from the penalty spot. This is not the way we wanted to or even needed to get into the cup but I’ll take it and I won’t be asking for anyone’s approval either. Allez Allez Allez!

  • Foreverzidane

Why all the Irish fans and the anti-French concentrating solely on this incident and dismissing all the fantastic chances that the Irish wasted!
With better finishing this match could have been over way before the final whistle and we didn’t have to endure all the cheap shots on this forum and be rid of Domenech once and for all!
Calls even out. Still this won’t be nearly as devastating as losing one of the greatest players of all time to a call that was never detected on the field in a WORLD CUP FINAL. So live with it Irish fans, and have another pint of Guinness.
    Allez Les Bleus!

Irish fans need to calm down a little. Please if an Irish player had the same opportunity as Henry, would he have done anything differently??? NO. All you can be sore about is all the missed opportunities you had, and be mad at Lloris, because he was amazing.

  • http://france.theoffside.com/ Thomas

God, Italians fans talking about cheating. I literally choked on this apple.

  • http://lyon.theoffside.com Inara

Sounds exactly like a fan of the team with someone like Malouda in it. Have you all forgotten his dive in the WC06 final? Typical France.

Riiiight. Because of course no Italian player dived during WC06.

  • http://thebeantownfrog.blogspot.com/ GFC

France go through….under controversy no doubt. but in sport you play to the whistle. France does the essential but Ireland were the better team in Paris.

    http://thebeantownfrog.blogspot.com/2009/11/france-v-irelandthe-hand-of-god-frenchy.html

  • http://juventus.theoffside.com alessio

And the French bitch about Francophobia in football….good one, Thomas.

  • robbed irish guy

    scum!

  • Foreverzidane

Yah what can I say the plot against the Italian team in Korea, still being debated and haven’t heard the end of it. Imagine when this one’s going to end. Of course Mighty Italy never cheats and always are the superior being in anything. Nice match fixing there guys involving 4 Serie A teams, few years ago.
    Now that’s an honest establishment!

his a basketball fan, no wonder he handle the ball twice.

  • italiaForTheFifthStar

iam glad that the whole world saw that henry is a cheat.:he was a great player no doubt but since 2005 he has been cheating, he cheated in the 2006 world cup, his team cheated in the 2006 world cup, they did not score a legal goal in the semis and finals..Now , iam tired of all the jealous world accusing Italians, we were in fact the recepients ..now when we lift the 5th star in 2006, and make the whole world jealous..it will be great..france to be kicked out in the first round
