Welcome Back to Patrice Evra

November 15th, 2006 | By: Laurie | 1 Comment »

Nick at Manchester United Offside has become my new best friend by giving me a post and an (English-language!) article on the return to Les Bleus of Patrice Evra. (Truly, folks, if you want to get serious gold stars from me, give me article links.) There’s also a good article in French at Football365.fr.

The 25-year-old Man U left-back has been called up for Les Bleus again after making his last appearance in 2004. I have to say, the more I read about this guy, the more I like him. There’s something refreshing about a player who achieves early success, goes through a slump, then works his butt off to come back. And then expresses nothing but joy and gratitude at the opportunities he’s been given. Let’s hope he gets his chance to shine tomorrow. (Or at least to hit the field for a few minutes.)

One thing, though, Patrice? You seriously need some new nicknames. La Grenouille (‘The Frog’) and Le Crapaud (‘The Toad’)?? Not exactly what I’d choose for a Bleu!

Evra was a great “young hope”. Because he did strong seasons with Monaco under the protection of Deschamps. And became a potential favorite at his post (left back) for the mondial. Because he is a true left handed ,he have a good pass(assist) ability, and a good technical quality and either because there is a lack of left back in France. So he had a little “melon” and thought all was played. unfortunatly he was injured, Abidal and Gallas took his place. The fact he become a titular at MU is a good thing it prooves he found the taste of struggle.
