I like Mexico a lot and always root for them - so it'll be hard to see them against France, I won't be able to choose. I just wish them the best of luck. I always remember that one of the best wc games in recent memory was the 2006 Argentina-Mexico game, brilliant stuff to watch.

Haven't Vela and dos Santos become more and more influential in the national team in recent games? That's been my impression. They are a fantastic pair to watch. The US fans go on about their "C" team being beaten by Mexico in the Gold Cup - forgetting that the Mexican team was not at full strength either.

If France goes out on the pitch like they did against Spain, then I'm afraid Mexico has the talent to make France pay. They may not be Spain but they have a lot of talent, skill on the ball, team unity, an enjoyment of the game that the French players don't have and an all out patriotic determination to win.

There are teams I don't want France to lose to (like England) but I could deal with losing to Mexico.

Mexico is one of these teams we'll have to be careful about. I think against France they will disrupt a lot the midfield building process, and be ready to pounce on whatever they can counter.
My guess is that the current French team will seek to not get scored upon before trying to score, a little bit like when in 2006 we played Switzerland and South Korea and we ended up with two ties(even with Zinédine). So I'd say there might be a few tied games and somehow we'll pull through on the number of goals scored. My hope is that, after that, we will play more freely, just like in 06.

Things can change in a few months and I know that. My heart says France will win the group, but if I had to place money on it knowing only what I know today:

1 Mexico
2 France
3 Uruguay
4 SA

I think Mexico always raises their game against top teams and so they won't be an easy opponent.

I doubt France will score more than a goal against Uruguay or Mexico or concede more than one. So it will all be a matter of who scores first.
