Where Can We Watch France-Austria?

First, the easy part. The Lithuania-France Euro ‘08 qualifier will be on Setanta and Setanta Broadband on Saturday. And here’s a list of soccer pubs around the US, some of which have Setanta. And of the two games Les Bleus are playing this time around, this is the must-win one because it’s a Euro qualifer. France-Austria is just a friendly.

Thing is, though, I REALLY want to see France-Austria. I want to see what Domenech will do with his new players. and I want to see how they play. Having Henry injured really gives Domenech the opportunity to tinker with an offense that hasn’t been working all that well, and I want to see this happen! Problem is, I can’t find anyplace in the US that is showing the game! Has anybody else come up with anything?

I may end up trying the French Football Federation website again. Didn’t work last time, and I’m not seeing it offered yet. But they passed my concerns up to tech support, and we all know that this guarantees success the next time around, right? (On a positive note, they did respond AND refund my money, which is more than the stupid MLS site has done in my quest to watch LA Galaxy games.)

Of course, I’ll also try all of the bootleg sites I know of, but I haven’t had much luck with pirates and French football in the past few months and don’t like having to rely on them.

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated!

Does anyone know if the Lithuania-France match will be on TV5 Monde? That’s where I’ve been watching all of the Euro qualifiers so far, but the schedule is showing a Ligue 1 match on the 24th instead of the France match.

    2 words: Live Footy

I can never make any of the online streaming sites work on my PC. I’ve installed sopcast, for example, and livefooty still doesn’t work.

I want to see the Austria game too, it’s ridiculous that none of the channels in the US that provide international football are going to broadcast it.

Laurie, a question for you: I remember you mentioning that Setanta has archived games available to watch. Did you mean Setanta’s online site or Setanta on DirecTV satellite?

I finally got permission from my landlord to install a dish so I’m subscribing to DirecTV (can’t wait to call Time Warner Cable to tell them F*** OFF!!) this week. Which means I’ll have access to Setanta and GolTV. Which means I’ll be able to watch the France-Lithuania match. I just want to know if I’ll be able to access those archived games on Setanta thru DirecTV.

Sandra, I have Setanta Broadband and not TV, so I don’t know anything about how the TV aspect works. I know that the Broadband puts the more important games in their archives for you to watch on demand.

(They just put France-Argentina in the archives and I’ve spent a pretty moment or two re-watching that game. Such beautiful football, such a sad result! And Ribery was completely awesome on the left!!)

Thanks for the reply Laurie. You confirmed my suspicions. Setanta on DirecTV has no archives — dammit!

And fortunately my mom taped the match against Argentina so I’ve wathed it and re-watched it, like you. Yes, Ribery was fantastic. I think he performs better with France than with Marseille.

    Alllllllez les Bleus!!!!!!!!!!!
