Who’s This Guy Julien Rodriguez?

On Saturday, I said: “I’m thinking that if both Squillaci and Mexès are actually out, Domenech is going to have to call up somebody else. But who?”

Today we got our answer. Meet Julien Rodriguez, most recent call-up for France. Julien recently arrived at Marseille after a stay at Glasgow Rangers.

I know less than nothing about our new player Julien, except that he’s 28 years old and currently uncapped, was captain of Monaco in 2004-05, and has had a roller-coaster ride in the past couple of years. This may be a somewhat controversial call-up.

Thuram, Squillaci and Mexès are scheduled for medical examinations tomorrow to see if any of the three will be fit to play on Wednesday. If not, Julien steps up.

I’ll see if I can find out a little more about him before the game.
