Thanks, Laurie
That is one of my most frustrating times, as I was here in the US and somehow couldn’t watch it live. Even on the public (non-PPV) rerun, they compressed the overtime, to keep the show under 2hrs and so the hunting show would be on time. Argh.
One of my Italian friends took about 2 years to put that behind him and not mention this game before saying hello to me. To this day, he still thinks that the extra-minutes were expired before the goal was scored.

Although so painful for the Italians (whatever, they got their revenge), that final was just sublime. The whole tournament France played like one of the greatest teams to ever grace the pitch. Wonderful stuff. Allez les bleus 2008! Thanks Laurie for that great reminder!

RIP Thierry Gilardi. No other Bleus archived video is the same with a different voice.

Re: Gilardi. The moment of silence at the game was a good thing — it was wrecked by only one drunken Englishman, and he was silenced pretty quickly. I also like Ribery’s shirt — it was worth the yellow.

check out what the french player does at 2:45 of the video. Looks like he’s getting real “french” with the italian player.

That’s not French, Skillz. That’s totally Greek.

Wait, did I just say that?

Actually your right, I think the guy getting it, is more french then the guy giving it.
