Career moves

There are a few transfer rumour’s about some of the French squad leading into the start of the World Cup.

There’s a lot of buzz about Franck Ribery at the moment and even though Marseille are saying they won’t sell him (ditto Drogba before his Chelsea move), the big clubs are circling with Manchester United having an offer turned down and Arsenal now trying get in on the deal.
Lyon is the possible destination for him if he stays in France and Jean-Michel Aulas their chairman said ‘Ribery told me a few days ago that he intended to leave Marseille and come to Lyon’.

Ribery has told his club he’ll make a decision in the next 72 hours and Arsene Wenger has said he’ll make one more big signing this summer so you never know, he might be running out in north London next season.

Fabien Barthez is another Marseille player heading for a new club, in his case it looks like Toulouse. He’s 34 now and with his friend Elie Baup taking over the manager’s job at Toulouse this could be Barthez’s swansong.

Midfielder Alou Diarra is being checked out by Inter Milan and some English clubs but says he’s happy to stay with Lens. ‘I feel good at Lens and it wouldn’t be a problem for me to go on’ Diarra said, nice to see some happy in their work.

As a BIG Manchester Utd fan here in England, i would be delighted if we signed Ribery. From what i’ve seen of the guy this season – the odd UEFA Cup Match and on Eurosport Television – he looks to be a very fine player and one that could be up there with the best at his peak.

The Guy’s only only 22/23 and if he got a big move to either Arsenal or (with a bit of luck) Manchester United im sure that England, France and the world would see a very special young talent next season.

He would link up well in the Arsenal midfield although they’ve signed Rosicky, but Wenger likes his French players.

If Ribery were 2 go to Old Trafford, imagine how he’d gell with the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney and Saha. Now that wud be special!

1 things for certain both clubs if offered him would sign him.

Anyway back 2 the oter players…Barthez -> Toulouse would work, he could get at the very least 2 seasons work there and retire.

As for Alou Diarra, i’ve been very impressed with him this season. I never understood why he didn’t get a chance at Liverpool but maybe he didn’t fit into the clubs plans.

    C’mon England
