Class defender
L’Equipe is reporting that Chelsea and France defender William Gallas is going to be on his way to AC Milan at the end of the season.
Gallas has a contract with Chelsea until 2008 but hasn’t been happpy playing at fullback rather than in the centre of defence. He’s very quick and strong and has good ball skills so would be an asset to any team, but the report says he even though Barcelona and Juventus are interested, Gallas favours Milan.
That would make some sense from his point of view. Milan have an a lot of old defenders, some of who will be leaving this summer so Gallas would be pretty sure of getting the position he wants.

I agree with you that Gallas is a very strong and skilled defender. I think Raymond Domenech should start with him and Thuram in the centre in the world cup. As full backs I suggest Sagnol and Silvestre who both left very good impressions in the last friendly match against Slovacchia. They are two good full backs that have attacking characteristics as wingers and give good crosses.
In the attack , I think we should start with Henry and Saha with Zidane behind them. Midfielders? Still not quite sure. Definitely Vieira. Maybe Dhiarra and Dhirasoo. I like Dhirasoo. He is very skilled and is the one that can possibly be the new Deschamps in the near future. However, I also want Rothen to be there (may be as a substitute) and Pires can still give a good 30 mins. Goalie? Still undecided. Probably Coupet is doing a bit better. What do you think?

I’d go with Coupet in goal and would start with Makelele in the holding midfield role, he’s 33 but is still playing well.
The same with Pires, over 30 but is playing excellantly lately for Arsenal and if Zidane is not creating much Pires can.
He can find that little bit of extra time on the ball and pick out a defence splitting pass.
If France can get Henry and Saha running beyond the back four Pires is the type of player who can supply the killer ball.
