Close to decision time
Thierry Henry has said he’ll decide on his future before the World Cup starts in June.
He has one year to run on his current deal and the club have offered him a long term contract that would make him the highest paid player in Arsenal’s history.
Henry told Arsenal TV Online ‘people should know by now I am not someone who thinks about the money before the game’…’that is why, when I talked about sporting ambitions, I was talking about the pitch and nothing else.’
If he was motivated by money the club should pay it because he’s the type of player who comes along for a team every twenty years or so. The key is obviously whether Arsenal qualify for next season’s Champions League by getting fourth position in the Premiership or actually winnning it this year.
If they do niether I think it would be difficult from a career point of view for Henry to stay even though Arsenal have a great young team coming through.
