Coming full circle
Bordeaux are reported to be lining up Werder Bremen and France midfielder Johan Micoud for a return to the team he left in 2000.
Bordeaux are almost certain to finish runners-up in the league to Lyon and be in the Champions League next season and Micoud is just the sort of experienced player they would need for a good run in that competition.
He left Les Girondins for Parma six years ago and then moved on to Bremen where he’s been a regular starter and consistently chipped in his share of goals from midfield.
He’s won trophies with all his clubs including championships in Germany and France and at 32 probably has a couple of good seasons left at the top level.
His main priority is probably trying to make the World Cup squad but with one year left on his Bremen contract a move now might make financial as well as sporting sense.
