Don’t upset him
Lyon’s French goalkeeper Gregory Coupet has been speaking about his desire to make the position for the national team his own.
Describing how disappointed he’d be if Fabien Barthez gets to be first choice ahead of him he’s quoted saying ‘ It’s an obsession. If I am not, obviously I’ll need some time to cheer up…..I prefer not to think about it as it could be so traumatic.’
Competition for places is good but that doesn’t sound like a all for one and one for all and the team comes first attitude.
France don’t won’t a situation like the German squad where Kahn and Lehmann hardly talk to each other.
Coupet has just won the French professional footballer’s union goalkeeper of the year title for the fourth year running and Lyon are champions again so he’s definitely the form keeper but will Barthez’s World Cup experience sway Raymond Domenech?
