The game took the pressure off of France and thats what was meant.
That is true. Unfortunately though, sometimes I think this team needs its back against the wall to play up to its potential.

Oh, Jean-Michel, I hope so! He does definitely seem to be on the road to fitness after this knee injury.

Problem is, thirty seems to be the age where injuries really start to become a problem, and he passed that magic number this year. But he was never all that injury prone to begin with, so I’m crossing my fingers that this was a one-time thing.

I personally would love to see what a central defense of Escude and Mexes would look like. Escude really impressed me in the Scotland game. But Gallas has been having a great year for Arsenal, so I’d take one of the above with him.

I love Thuram, but I just don’t know that he can be a ninety-minute player, and I don’t know that we want to use up substitutions on central defense.

Skillz, wheeew… some threats? You must be one of these keyboard warriors looking for some adrenaline on the net. How ugly could it get? As ugly as the Canadian football team?

Back to Football, who is in favour of Mexes instead of Thuram…? Mexes shining every weekends in Serie A with Roma while our dear Thuram is shining on the bench with Barcelona. I have a lot of respect for Thuram and his career with the NT but don’t you think that his game level is not up to the NT anymore?

Maybe so. However I wouldnt feel too confident in a back up against the wall situation with the level of play that was displayed. The game took the pressure off of France and thats what was meant.

Glad Italy won. We needed all the help we could get.
IIRC the help came from Georgia, when they beat Scotland two-nil. After that, and after we won against Lithuania, all that was needed was a point from the Ukraine match. Which we got. The Italy-Scotland result was irrelevant.

I too do not follow Italian football too much myself. Massaer I really want to believe you but I have to side with Thierry on this one. Coupet’s return will be beneficial to the team.

equally matched and lucky to get a tie? I would say that without Frey’s blunder it was a fair win for France despite a not so great game in a frozen empty soviet style statdium…
