Going east
France have a tricky second game on June 18 against South Korea in Leipzig.
Leipzig is about 100km southwest of Berlin and used to be part of the old East Germany.
The Zentralstadion was opened in 2004 and has a capacity of 44,000. The old stadium used to be the home of VFB Leipzig but they went bust a couple of years ago.
It has two long, sweeping sides to its outside but looks like it could be quite atmospheric inside during games.
Leipzig has a population of about 500,000 and the stadium is about a twenty minute walk from the town’s main train station.
This game should provide plenty of tickets for French fans as I would not have thought more than a few thousand fans would be coming from Korea, although I’m not sure how many Koreans are actually living in Germany.
