Heading for the exit?

The Mirror newspaper says Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will this summer have a big clearance sale of the leftovers from Gerard Houllier’s time in charge .

As Houllier was partial to signing fellow Frenchmen that looks like it could be taxis all-round to John Lennon airport for the likes of Djibril Cisse, Djimi Traore, Anthony Le Tallec, Florent Sinama Pongolle and Bruno Cheyrou although the last three are already on loan I think.

Cisse keeps denying he’s going but the rumours are constant and it looks as though Benitez, probably quite naturally, likes and trusts having a majority of Spaniards in his team.

Arsene Wenger has built Arsenal’s success on a French core with Vieira, Petit, Anelka, Henry, Pires, Wiltord being major players and guys like Flamini, Cygan, Grimandi, Clichy, Aliadiere and now Diaby coming in and out of the team.

For a foreign player in England your place on the team is probably more secure with one of your countrymen in the hot seat.
