Looking for a job

March 18th, 2006 | By: Chriso | No Comments »

France’s World Cup winning captain Didier Deschamps is looking for gainful employment again after taking a year out to recharge his batteries.

Deschamps resigned as coach of Monaco last September after a bad start to the French league season but had previously got his team to the 2004 Champions League final, knocking out Real Madrid and Chelsea on the way.

Considering the team didn’t have any really big stars and a few players on loan, like Fernando Morientes, I think Deschamps did a good job.
They lost to Jose Mourinho’s Porto in the final and I remember the speculation before the game as to which one Abramovich would hire for Chelsea.

Deschamps has a ton of experience as a player and he’s shown he know’s how to put together a winning team, so if he’s back in the job market I think he’ll have plenty of offers.
He’s quoted as saying ‘after taking a good rest, I will take a club next season, but probably not in France’.
