The price of success for Lyon could be a further loss of their best players. Defender Eric Abidal is the latest to be linked with a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona in the summer.

Apparently Chelsea and AC Milan were trying to get him last year but Lyon wouldn’t let him go. I don’t think they’ll be able to do the same if Real come knocking this year and with Roberto Carlos on his way out a new left back is definitely needed at the Bernabeu.

Abidal’s 26 and been with Lyon since 2004 after playing previously for Lille and Monaco. He’s contracted to Lyon for another two years but who could say no to a big money move to Spain.
