One of the overlooked
Fulham manager Chris Coleman has been making the case for his midfielder Steed Malbranque to get a place in the French World cup squad. Coleman says ‘People in this country appreciate the way Steed plays football…Steed is a top-quality player and the fact he’s being overlooked by a French team which isn’t the best is a shame.’
I couldn’t agree more. Malbranque is an excellent player, 26 years old, in his fifth year with Fulham after his move from Lyon. He’s skillful, direct and full of energy, just the sort of player you’d want in a squad if plan A wasn’t working out and you needed to change things late in the game.
Malbranque’s a player that can make things happen and if the French midfield wasn’t firing he’s the type that just might get it started. It’s a pity that playing for a small Premiership team he’s not getting the exposure to get him the into the national team reckoning.
