Paul Le Guen: A rising star

February 14th, 2006 | By: Chriso | 2 Comments »

Who will be France coach after the World Cup? A report in the Times today suggests it could be in demand Paul Le Guen, the 41 year old former Lyon boss who has been getting a lot of press in the UK because underperforming Glasgow Rangers are dying to have him come manage them.

Rangers could be out of luck, the report says that even though his wife and assistant have been in Glasgow recently, Le Guen and his family have checked out similar job offers in the same way in Italy, Turkey and Ukraine before turning them down. It also says the French FA are hoping that a lifestyle of combining being national coach with Le Guen’s current TV work with Canal Plus will have greater appeal than going straight back into club management.

Le Guen is certainly hot property at the moment and if he waits until after the season ends he’ll probably have his choice of some very big club and country jobs, a nice position to be in.

Could be nice to have Le Guen as french manager. He is young and understand very well the players and with the national job, he would still have time to spend time with his family. That would be perfect for me.
