Player profile: David Trezeguet

Trezeguet is one of the many French players whose origins lay outside France. He was born in France, the son of an Argentine footballer, grew up in Argentina and played his first professional games there for Platense before joining Monaco in 1995.
He’s been pretty much a first choice ever since the 1998 World Cup win where he played a part in every game except the final.
Probably his greatest moment so far has been scoring the winning extra-time golden goal against Italy in the final of Euro2000, a great strikers finish, swivelling and firing a rocket up into the net.

He’s much more of a goal poacher than a creator in the Henry mould and his goalscoring record throughout his career has always been excellant, his ratio of goals to games must be around two in every three.
He’s a rangy 6′2 and good in the air, the type of player who can win you a game when the teams not playing well by having the knack of getting on the end of a half chance.
As well as winning the World Cup and European Championship you can add two French and three Italian titles with Monaco and Juventus.
Barring injury you can guarantee that Trezeguet will be leading France’s attack in Germany and he should be going into it on a high because Juventus are running away with league in Italy and still chasing the Champions League.
Currently 9th favourite to be World Cup goalscorer at odds of 22-1, I may just have to have a cheeky bet on that.
