The French camp put forward a positive point of view despite the 2-1 defeat to Slovakia last night. Raymond Domenech said, ‘this is the kind of game that helps you prepare for the future, I’m certain that this match was good for us’.
Thierry Henry said, ‘this is only our first defeat for 17 matches’ and ‘three months before the World Cup it is not worrying to lose’, and I agree, in six months time nobody will even remember this game was played, reaching a peak and giving 100% in June is what matters.
Domenech also had a pop at the French fans for booing Barthez saying, ‘I can’t understand how we can have such short memories……Fabien has been World Champion and made a lot of people dream, its unacceptable to boo at him from the start.
