The president of the French football federation has been making some interesting comments about national team coach Raymond Domenech.
Jean-Pierre Escalettes has been pretty open with how he views the team’s World Cup chances and how he see’s Domenech.
On France’s chances he says ‘we are not ready to say we are the best , it would be stupid to say that. Modesty and humility are important, last time we did not even qualify for the second round….even when we won in ‘98 we were quite lucky in the quarterfinal and semifinal.’
Sounds like he’s preparing the fans for an early return home.
Speaking about Domenech’s difficulties with the press he said ‘Domenech is a man with a very strong personality and occasionally we have a problem with the media…Domenech is different and we have to live with it.’
Even so he wants him to remain the coach until Euro 2008.
His latest challenge will be finding a replacement for Cisse who crocked a shin in tonight’s game with China.
