What a night

There were mixed results for French players in last nights Champions League game between Arsenal and Juventus.

It was Patrick Vieira’s big home coming but the Vieira Arsenal fans remember failed to turn up, halfway through the second half I looked to see if he was still on the pitch.

PiresHis teammates weren’t much help, Trezeguet was pretty much anonymous all night, Jonathon Zebina was unlucky to get a second yellow card in the 89th minute and will miss next week’s return leg as will Vieira who got booked in the first half. Thuram played ok but never had a chance to get forward that much.

Arsenal’s French boys had a much better evening led by the skipper, Henry, who was fired up and scored the second goal. Robert Pires played really well, made a lot of positive runs and even tackled.

Mathieu Flamini had another strong performance at left back, for a right footed midfielder he’s making the job his. If Raymond Domenech wants a player with tons of energy, who can fill in at a number of positions and do them well he should take Flamini to the World Cup.
