Will we see the real Henry?

France are in the World Cup Final against everybody but Domenech’s expectations, unbeaten in six games and we still haven’t seen the best of Thierry Henry.

On the face of it he’s doing well. He’s started all six games so far and played all but about 12 minutes of France’s World Cup time, scoring a goal in three matches so far, pretty good.
But anybody who watches him with Arsenal will know we’ve only seen about 30% of what Henry can do.

In this tournament he’s been very static as the main striker, hardly ever drifting out to the wings and racing past fullbacks like he does with the Gunners. One of his greatest assets, his speed, has not been a factor for France.

Looking at the stats, Henry’s only had 14 shots on goal in his six games, which is not a lot for a player of his quality and I can’t remember him getting in many long range efforts.

To me, the team is winning which is great but Henry is being constrained by the system they’re playing and it would be a bit of a shame if France won the World Cup without Henry really cutting loose.

For LOL: France lost a long time ago (quite a few years back when they stopped producing good players like Platini and started using imports).
I support the latin teams (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Romania), so the Italians are my favourites this time. Forza Italia!

PS: Don’t tell me the team representing France is latin too!

this world cup has being one of the best and i will also like to comment one Henry well i know he can do better but i think the formation in with france is using is not favouring him.

Henry is a PANSY! He ran into the italian defender and almost fainted…
He is a complete disgrace to real football players. I think that Henry and all of his sensitive kind who like to draw fouls should either switch careers and move to hollywood or join the women’s national team… but then again, the women may be too tough for them.

What a dumb thing to say. Even if Materazzi did say something stupid Zidane is a pro and should’ve walked away and end his career on a high. France may even have won the penalty shoot out if Zidane had taken one instead of Trezuguet. I think France (choke!) deserved it on their second half performance.

Mike, you’re right. That was no way to end and era. He should have known better. I believe six years ago he went flying feet first into a spectator that was upsetting him? Could be a lie.

If everybody did the “right thing” when he is verbally harassed in a soccer match, then we’d be seeing red flags left and right and by the end of the second half, there’d be like 6 players in the field. Neither coach would be there, too.

So, no, Zidane did not do the right thing. Period.
