Signs are that Zinedine Zidane is planning to call time on his career this week.
Real Madrid have confirmed he’s arranged a press conference next Wednesday at 1100GMT and Spanish radio station Cadena Ser have reported it’s to announce his retirement from all football after the World Cup.
Zidane still has one year left on his Real contract but I think he’ll want to do the classy thing and go out on top. He’s 34 in the June and with his form dipping I’m sure he doesn’t want to end his playing days slowly declining.
He’s had the perfect career. He’s won everything, made a fortune, is universally liked and respected and will go down as one of the greatest players ever.
