France Fotos: If Your Heart is Granite, These Will Melt It

June 4th, 2008 | By: Laurie | 5 Comments »

In the past couple of days I’ve stumbled on two great, heart-melting photos of France players who aren’t going to Euros. Anybody else get a pain in their maternal area when you look at them?

(Guys, don’t answer that.)

First, Djibril Cisse and his son Cassius.

And then it’s Philippe Mexes, caught in an act of idol-worship. Chris, who writes the Roma blog, says he thinks this is from the time he was fresh out of Auxerre and new to Roma. Maybe ‘03-’04? And probably still thinking, “OMG, am I really on the same field?”

(Thanks to Kickette for the first photo find, and Chris for the second.)

Thanks. I could have googled it, but it’s my day off and I’m way too damn lazy. That would have made him 22-ish? How adorable is that?

Laurie, you just pretty much killed me with those photos. *sigh* My maternal area is all aglow. :-D

But then, when it comes to zizou, I’m just pure, wobbly cannon fodder.
:-)

BTW, have to tell you how much I love that “hug from Titi” icon you have with the revolving shots of Henry hugging another player. Adorable, clever and funny all at the same time.

Laurie, have you seen this:

http://www.euro2008.uefa.com/news/kind=1/newsid=705657.html

It’s about a final warm-up game at Clairefontaine today that Domenech organized for the squad between Lique 1 and Ligue 2 players who had not started for the game against Colombia. Apparently Anelka and Gomis did very well.

No, I hadn’t seen it! I’m taking a day off before Euros, so I haven’t been reading much. But that’s exciting!

Of course, all it really means is that we have enough depth to beat players who are out of contract. But with luck that will give Nico some confidence. And Nasri played in Malouda’s spot. Interesting…
