A Few Articles to Keep you Entertained in the Lull
There is NOTHING going on in France NT land these days, aside from a few transfer rumors. (But not nearly as many as last year, probably because so many switched teams in summer.) I’ll catch up on those later. Oh, and it seems like everybody got injured (Henry, Benzema, Nasri) either before or during the most recent Champions League campaign, so let’s thank our lucky stars that we’re already qualified for Euro ‘08.
For now, though, to fill your short days and long nights, here are a few blog posts and articles about players, former players, and issues that might interest you:
- Inara over an Lyon Offside has an interesting post about TV rights for Ligue 1. If you have an interest in seeing French teams bring in enough money to be competitve on an international level, you’ll want to read it.
- 101 Great Goals has a post about my favorite former bad boy, Nicolas Anelka. How happy am I that the news of his personal rehabilitation is finally getting out? VERY happy! (But I still don’t want to see him at ManU.)
- Sky Sports has a dual interview with Zidane and Ronaldo. (As Martha says, the one with the glandular problem, not the pretty one.) It took place sometime around their recent charity match. They mostly reminisce, and it’s a fun read.
- Patrice Evra has been a regular Chatty Cathy lately, giving interviews all over the place. Here’s one from a ManU website and another that describes how he came to play leftback.
- Thierry Henry recently talked to Jonah Freedman from Sports Illustrated, discussing, among other things, a possible eventual move to MLS.

I just wanted to let you know that I had a dream with Thierry Henry in it, and he gave me a free ticket to a France game. And then I told Henry that he was Benzema’s idol (because I just personally know Benzema so well).
Does that make me an obsessed and/or psychotic fan?

Not at all, I remember at least one dream where Zidane and I hang out and I am somehow fluent. I feel less ashamed when I have dreams with Marion Cotillard in them, but I find she doesn’t know too much about foot in my dreams (luckily for her, I let it slide).

I don’t think you want to know the kinds of dreams I’ve with with Zidane in them.
And thanks for this news round-up, Laurie! Titi to MLS, huh? Hmm. THAT would be a lot of fun to watch!! I know he loves NYC, so he’d probably come here – which of course means I have to learn the art of stalking. (joking! joking!!)

L’Américain – my dreams of marion Cotillard came true in the first TAXI movie. She’s nake (of course), wakes up and puts on a Marseille jersey to go get breakfast. Best movie scene ever.
Oh and Laurie don’t forget Euro 2008’s groups will be known tomorrow…as well as Kaka’s choice in ties at the ballon d’Or ceremony.
I’ve been thinking about it all week. We could be with Italy, germany/spain, The Netherlands, that would be a group of DEATH if ever there was one.
Kaka’s gonna go with Red
