Anelka: The Bold, Bald, Bad-Ass from Bolton*

Watch this clip. It still makes my jaw drop, even though I’ve seen it at least half a dozen times. (And if you’re running short on time, skip the middle part where they’re protesting to the ref and go straight to the replays at the end. It’s worth seeing.) Not only did the ref not call Anelka, but the goal apparently counted AND one of their opponents got yellow-carded for protesting. (Maybe they should have checked the ref’s eyesight. Or bank account. But anyhoo…)

I know I should be shocked, horrified and appalled by this. (And a part of me is.) But…well…
DAMN, that was audacious! I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I love Anelka.

Dear Santa Claus (and M. Domenech): I only want one thing for Christmas. I want one game (just one!) with Anelka and Trezeguet up front. Is that too much to ask?

And I do realize that technically this clip comes from Fenerbahce and not Bolton. But “The Bold, Bald Bad-Ass from Fenerbahce” doesn’t have quite the same ring. Plus I couldn’t pronounce it anyway.
