Another Day, Another Set of Transfer Rumors
To keep you up to date on where some of your favorite Bleus may (or may not) be playing after January, here are a few transfer rumors.
First, that Trezeguet-to-Lyon rumor is SO yesterday. Jean-Claude Blanc of Juventus says, “Trezeguet will not leave in January.” Can’t get much clearer than that. So I guess all that happy stuff between Trez and the Lyon President last week? Well, that and 30 million Euros will buy you a lot of cups of coffee. But not a certain Juventus striker. At least not at this moment.
But which other striker may be looking to come to Lyon? Okay, I have to admit this one excites me. Most recent rumors have Nicolas Anelka and Lyon engaging in the courtship ritual. (What? Anelka looking to leave a team? Unprecendented! This would only be, what, his sixth team? Seventh? Eighth, maybe? The guy is 27!) But something tells me that this might be a good fit. And something (maybe that ovation he got when he subbed in for Saha last week?) tells me that France is ready to welcome back their enfant terrible. So let’s hope this rumor has some substance.
And then, of course, we have that kind-of-maybe-someday-but-probably-not Bleu, Gonzalo Higuain, who like any eighteen-year-old with assets is looking to play the field. Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and, yes, Lyon, have all expressed an interest. Yawn. Wake me up when the hype is over.
And Franck Ribery has expressed an interest in moving to Arsenal from Marseille. Wait, no he hasn’t! Yes, he has! No, he hasn’t! Uhh…What day is it again? (This story isn’t done yet. Stay tuned for more on our boy Franck.)
And last but not least and for a change of pace, at least three Bleus are thinking of leaving Lyon. Apparently finishing first year after year and consistently thrashing your opponents each week gets old after awhile. Florent Malouda may be considering a move to Chelsea. Eric Abidal may (or may not) be considering a move to Arsenal, and Alou Diarra may (or may not) be thinking he’ll get more playing time somewhere else.
Those are the rumors, folks! And if they actually turn out to be true, you heard it here first!
