Domenech Has Another Bundle of Joy on the Way
The real reason I’m happy to see this news (first reported here late last year) is that it gives me the chance to devote a post to Bleus coach Raymond Domenech’s significant other, Estelle Denis. I am beyond fascinated by Estelle Denis, host of the French football program 100% Foot, (and more recently of a political program. )
Estelle is with child again, due sometime this summer. She and Raymond already have a daughter, Victoire (which translates, of course, to “Victory.”) And yes, the thought of the two together does kind of boggle the mind, doesn’t it? Actually, I don’t want to think about that too much, because then I’d have to wash my brain out with Clorox. (And by that I mean, “Love you, Raymond! Just kidding! And congratulations!)
And I am not the only one fascinated with Estelle. Estelle-watching seems to be something of a French passion. If you visit DailyMotion (a European version of YouTube), you’ll find a collection of Estelle videos that someone has put together from 100% Foot programs. Theses videos have names like “Estelle Denis 100% Cleavage,” and everything in the program except Estelle has been cut out. So you get shot after shot after shot of Estelle chatting and asking questions. Like I said, fascinating. Check out the video yourself — even if you don’t speak French, I’m guessing you’ll be intrigued. And congratulations, Raymond and Estelle!

So when I’m old, gray and grumpy I can always move to France and find an outrageously sexy bride. There is justice in this world, although I’m not sure ‘Dome’ deserves it.

*shakes head* I swear, some women have the most bizarre taste! I have some French celebrity gossip magazines (I collect zizou stuff) and in some of the mags I have, there are a few candid shots of Raymond and Estelle vacationing in various places — the beach usually. So I’ve seen the man without a shirt on in these shots, and swim briefs. *shaking head again* Like I said, some women…

Ray must have a GREAT personality. I’ve seen pictures of him on the beach too…

“Old, gray and grumpy” can be very enticing to some people! I personally think Raymond has a great face–and really fantastic eyebrows–but my tastes have been called . . . well, let’s say “eccentric.”

In Domenech’s defense, look at the other people in the world with power that have an endless supply of attractive women, i.e. Trump. At least Domenech is always well dressed, even if you didn’t show who was playing, Domenech’s Gallic fashion informs you that you are watching the best football team in the world.

I have to admit I find Domenech fascinating. Maybe not “attractive,” but he definitely has that onion quality — you want to peel back all the layers to see what’s in the middle!

Laurie, you’re not the only one. He’s such an interesting character – people either hate him or love him. It’s hard to be indifferent towards him, I think.
I just posted a “blast from the past” entry on the OL blog, about the days when Ray played for Lyon.
You will LOVE the pictures.
Well, maybe. If you like mustaches.

I neither love nor hate Raymond. I find him endlessly interesting, sometimes quite amusing. Wrong on some football decisions, right on others. And he can be quite funny — I loved what he said about Materazzi some months ago when he was headbutted again by another player (an Italian one this time). Raymond quipped something like “there must be something physically wrong with him, he has a hard time standing up” — it was wittier than that in French.
