I wouldn't be surprised if Thuram ends his career next year (after Euro 2008). If so, I'd be surprised if he switched clubs. He's not like Makelele, who wants to play forever.

Oh, Trezeguet. Trezeguet breaks my heart.

My feeling on David, based on very few facts and a lot of gut instinct: David has had the year from hell. EVERYTHING has gone wrong. And I think that David is insanely anxious to go back to the days when he was Trezegol, darling of the France NT and of super-club Juventus. (As opposed to, y'know, the guy who lost the World Cup and spent the year getting dumped from the NT and languishing in Serie B. And who turns thirty this year.) I think he feels that a newly-promoted Juventus might be his best option, because in an established team he'd have to prove himself all over again. But he doesn't want to stay if he's not feeling the love, and recently he hasn't been -- particularly since he seems to feel he should be compensated in some way for sticking with the team (if involuntarily) through the Serie B year. (A move which, again, he believes cost him his spot on the NT.)

All of this is a longwinded way of saying that yes, I think he would love to stay at Juventus, but only if they're willing to play the game his way. And that's still questionable.

It's a good thing Camp Nou is such a big stadium, isn't it? Joking aside, I really hope he at least tries to leave his ego behind. We've got more than enough of them as it is.

I think Thuram will be staying, especially now that Puyol is going to be out until October. And IMHO he's far less responsible (despite some painful lapses) than Rafael Marquez - horrid form all season - or Oleguer if we want to talk about defensive mistakes.
